Service Light LED to Revs conversion - interest?

I stumbled across the info to do this today, and it reminded me of a guy (American?) who had tried to sell his home-made version for big money, and failed.
The premise is a board that replaces the existing Service LEDs inside your cluster with one that glows with your revs. It'll be a bit home-brew but should be plug-and-play.
Is there any interest in this? If so, what sort of price would you pay for it? Not trying to make a business out of it, but wondering whether it's worth my time to make a handful.

What, more LED's light up with more revs? Isn't there already a far better instrument located in the clocks for doing this already rather than a couple of small LED's?

Oh of course there is. It's just a gimmick, but it's one that people showed interest in in the past.

It was georgegraves who came up with some design to replace the SI lights, though I don't think it was a rev counter - wasn't it a battery voltage gauge or similar?
As said above, what's the point when you already have a perfectly good rev counter, unless you own a lowly 316 carb model, that is, which didn't come with the rev counter?
Gear shift indicator lights that respond to revs would be a more useful function, or an AFR gauge.

I'm not doing it to mine; I just found the circuit diagrams alongside something else I needed. If no-one's interested, I can pack my soldering iron awaySpeedtouch wrote:As said above, what's the point
I think the site I found it on was for the BMW 2002 lot, who fit E30 engines and then customise the original 2002 gauges to make it all work.

Some early chrome bumper 316 carb models didn't have them, just a clock as standard, mate.Nick45 wrote:316 m10s do have rev counters mate.Speedtouch wrote:

I'd be interested in a volts gauge there - but to be honest, I can't be arsed to do it!!!!

It's a pretty straightforward circuit, using an LM3914 bargraph driver chip, and a few external parts:

Id be interested in it! would be good if you could tune it as a gear shift indicator!
