My 325i touring seems to spin over to long before starting from time to time more so when its hot but has done it from cold as well. I ask is this normal as my prvious 325i did exactly the same. What would the possible solution be? Thanks

Could be anything ranging from partially blocked fuel filter, injectors needing a refurb, inlet manifold/throttle body gasket leaks, worn distributor cap/rotor arm, spark plugs, etc.
If it's any consolation, my 325iSE had a similar problem on occasions, but I never got to the bottom of it, despite fitting new cambelt, distributor cap, rotor arm, spark plugs, fuel filter and hoses, changing the AFM for a Miller MAF, etc, etc!
The car ran so well otherwise that I was inclined to forgive it.

Add fuel pump non return valve to the list.
An E30 engine should start after the first compression stroke after the missing tooth on the crank nose wheel passes the crank position sensor. I.E. Just over one turn of the crankshaft at most.

My cabby had a silimar problem and would struggle to start when warm on occasion. I took the rail off and used newly proessionally refurbished injectors (and seals etc) and re fitted.
I was rather disturbed when i saw the state of my old injectors to say the least and the new injectors have curred the problem.
Hope this is of some help.
