I would get the valet to do the seats / headlining properly.polsta wrote:...on the carpets and seats whilst out ? Was thinking of getting someone to do the lot and boot carpets too

All the more reason to do it! You'll be amazed how much of that 'used car smell' comes from the carpets.bab-91 wrote:My carpets would disintegrate if I pressure washed them...

It's more musty than smelly! I'll add it to my to-do-list!snakebrain wrote:All the more reason to do it! You'll be amazed how much of that 'used car smell' comes from the carpets.bab-91 wrote:My carpets would disintegrate if I pressure washed them...

(P.S. Not calling your car a smelly turd or anything!)

The only E30 carpet that I've had disintegrate, is one in a touring that had literally been under 2 - 3 inches of water for over two years. A damaged rear hatch had been left ajar, allowing water in to fill whatever it could. Wheel well and boot pockets filled to the top, and the floor pan up to the top of the panels sealing the inside of the sills.bab-91 wrote:My carpets would disintegrate if I pressure washed them...

Sounds like an interesting drive homeBrianmoooore wrote: The only E30 carpet that I've had disintegrate, is one in a touring that had literally been under 2 - 3 inches of water for over two years. Was an interesting 100 mile drive home with waves lapping around my feet, and a deluge from the back every time the brakes were used.
Carpet and seats were scrap, but the metal of the boot and floor pan were immaculate.

It's the green one in my sig.bab-91 wrote:

Then scrub scrub scrub and wash off. My carpet came up like new and I mean absolutely spotless and perfect.
