Dont have one at the mo but if I did it would be going sideways somewhere discreet

shouted at it ,fitted my new engine on friday ,finished plumbing and wiring it in today ,put fuel to it ,that poured out all over the fuel rail ,so took that out replaced the o rings on the injecotrs ,refitted that it leaked again so removed that again fitted my old one that fixed all leaks ,tried to start it ,it was making a squeaking noise as it was turning over and altho it had a nice spark it didnt start then the battery died ,i was cold and tired by this point so went in ,hopefully will go out with a fresh head later in the week when i get time and get it started ,it has been stood a while

Not from BMW I hasten to add.

Cleaned engine bay, put new wheel on, started up as no battery, went to homebase carpark and went weeeeeeeeeeeeee! Cleaned crap out of it, superglued gear knob on.

Looks lovely, did the same to mine when I built it.
Snag is,in the engine bay,all you see is the top of the engine and the inlet manifold.

All the pretty bits underneath are hidden, but at least it is clean when it goes in,making oil leaks a little easier to trace.

On a more serious note,if that's possible on the zone today, fit a new o ring top and bottom on the crankcase breather tube that fits between the bottom of the inlet manifold and the crankcase, restrain the spring on the tube with a couple of cable ties until the inlet mani is bolted home, then cut the ties and guide the tube home.
This is the main cause of oil 'mist' type leaks, careful instalation will help.

Drove it 18 miles to the station through lots of snow and snarled up traffic. Missed the train. Handed the keys over to my wife who picked me up this evening and said how much she'd enjoyed driving it and how impressed she was with the way it handles snow. "It only skidded when I wanted it to"
Win.

Was changing the distributor on my 86 chromie , the shaft at the bottom dropped off when i was pulling the old one out , straight down the side and down into the sump
, spent the rest of the day dropping the subframe , removing the sump , taking the shaft piece out and bolting back up again. Squeezed two of my fingers when i bolting the subframe back up , hurts like hell. What was supposed to be a short 45 minute job took me almost 4 hours. And today was a holiday too. WTF.

Well, after replacing the ball joint dust cover, it passed with flying colours and not even a single advisory.darkchild wrote:Taking mine for its MOT today.

Just need to fix the intermittent passenger side speaker before a 400 mile trip to Scotland next month. That can wait until the weather warms up though. Feck working on cars in these temperatures, it was -9 here last night.
Yesterday I used my E30 to take one of my company's in-house lawyers, and two legal department directors (one of whom is my German boss!) to a restaurant.
I'm not sure that they were very impressed with the "classic" transport..... especially when I told them that they had to push the door lock button down before they closed the door

These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....
Amen! The snow is falling here again so I'm in the kitchen stripping down my front calipers for a respray.darkchild wrote:... That can wait until the weather warms up though. Feck working on cars in these temperatures, it was -9 here last night.

I had the pleasure of watching my touring glide through it's MoT.
13400 miles over the year...
Three advisories;
Minor exhaust leak(similar to the last three years, but the place varies)
Rear brake flexi's corroding(first mentioned two years ago,but not last year)
Fuel pipes corroded(first mention)

Turned the key, scowled at it as nothing happened, came back inside.
Tried to fit my grill badge... Failed! by scratching the paint of the grill, So gave up and put the cover back on.
I'll do it properly when the temperature picks up again.
