What induction kit/air filter do you use?
Moderator: martauto
BIG waste of money! Especially if you don't seal off the part of the engine bay it is sitting in from the rest of the engine.
Standard airbox and filter, if you really want, something like a K&N panel filter is meant to flow a bit better than an OEM filter but then you have to ask what else it's allowing through since it can't be filtering the air so much to allow more through.

i can see the point being made but i have a k&n full induction kit on mt e30 and it may sound rather silly but i feel that it was a good choice as i put a pipercross viper on my e36 and with in a week i went back to the standard set up and then after put a k&n induction on her aswell so it is down to you but i do love the sound of my k&n sucking in the air as i am driving

ive got love for you if you run an eighty

i have got a KN panel filter in my e30 M3 road car. makes a nicer noise n works a bit better with the turner chip.
you really need to get on a dyno with a proper induction kit to see the difference. I had a 320 iS track car with S50 engine and we put one of those filters that breath at the FRONT and SIDE.
with the cold air feed (light out and plastic cone) we saw a 6 BHP increase on the dyno on back to back runs.
bearing in mind this was a 3 litre S50 engine putting out 290 BHP (BTB six branch and chip) then it was only a 2% gain on the original set up. the dyno was at Sanspeed in Bexley and they supply the cone filters with the breathing front part. was a blue filter called symtec or sth like that.
its in the thread here on the build on page 1:

bearing in mind the filter was only 30 pounds supplied then you could say yes....some might say why bother.
just my 2c.

Share this with anyone who still thinks induction/cold air kits/pod filters give you power gains

TommyM - you seem to be vying for the title of "Biggest zone prat".
Every post you make seems to bring you closer to achieving your ambition!

There is also a page showing performance comparisons between different filters on the Wiki - http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... Comparions
I have standard box box and a pipercross panel filter on my 325, does the job, as said above, unless you can protect an induction kit from hot air, thy're really not worth the stupid prices
