An E30 M3 with 227 miles on it will cost a little bit more than 26k though, like 3 times more 1 :eek:

Nah, regular one with 104k on the clocks is about the price this guy is asking. If you pay a little less, it will help sort out the rust issues.. :D

I'd rather have an M3 with however many miles on it, than a run of the mill cab just because it has delivery miles on it. Obviously I'm not comparing this to an M3 with delivery miles

I'd have this over a ratty M3 any day!

Given the mileage, if this car was always destined for a collection it may have been imported but never registered, meaning it wouldn't need to meet the US 5mph crash test and also wouldn't need the world's ugliest bumpers..

It meets the federal standards with its US spec facelift bumpers and sealed beam headlights present and correct.

Shame the freak who bought it and locked it away for over twenty years did not buy an M3. The two cars would have been a similar price new . The M3 would have got him a lot better return on his investment !

It's bizarre, 20 + years of storage for what's probably zero profit once you factor in the costs to put it back on the road.

Perhaps it'll make a profit if it's kept and sold in 10 years time.

Surely they wouldnt have been that similar in price would they?

And yes I would definitely rather go with the higher miles m3. Not that thats an option! :D

Very nice!!! Didn't know you could fit that steering in the car. Surely it would need an SRS control unit and sensors for it to go off. Was that a factory option or nah?

Iv never ever seen an E30 with an airbag before

M3 bollotics haha! Well a cab is heavier in the first place due to the strengthening in the doors yeh? Plus to that the weight of air con and the fact that when its on it drains the power then you have a slower 2.5, simples ol chap!

No one in theyre right mind would be comparing this to a m3 with delivery miles. I think youve misread what is being said and Im pretty sure youll find that for £27,000 you will get more than a ratty m3.

And if im goin to have to be 'stuck' with a four pot I think id just have to live with that as its more powerful and lighter and better for handling than the big 6pots. We're not talking 1.8's here ya know.

The M3 is the more desirable car, full stop, hence the demand for them, and their prices being higher than any of the 3 series of this generation.
If you compare like for like, i.e prestine vs prestine, M3 wins. If you compare shite vs shite, it wins again...!

That is the point.

Now, if I'm asked to take the prestine cabby or an M3 selling for the same amount, but is used, it would be the M3 again. :D

I know very little about collecting car other than scrap heaps stored in a field :roll: But i'm pretty certain those who are willing to part with 26k (That the price? Cant be bothered to scroll back) for a car that they arent going to be using and are buying it for the fact it is a how ever many year old car with 227 miles on it arent all that bothered if they could buy a higher millege top of the range model for the same price, the whole point is to have the low millege minters locked up rather than trying to polish a high millege council up M3...

I might be wrong though.

As Trevor rightly said, this car is one of one. Where is there another ? You only need one hero who has lots of dollarz and fond memories involving E30 convertibles and it is gone.

No argument mate. discussion yes. That was one small part of a post, funny the little bits people pick up on.

I get that its a collectors car. The post says discuss. I was discussing that it wouldnt be for me and as a car for a collection I would rather something of motorsport heritage. And yes you can get these vehicles for that money. Everyone seems to think £27,000 is pocket change. Im pretty sure 'council' m3's if there ever was one start more around £9/10,000 mark.

Every one is entitled to theyre opinion, this is mine. That car will make somebody very happy I'm sure.

For a start the strengthening in a convertible is actually in the sills, inner wings and A posts. Theres naff all in the doors to worry about. (Yeh?)

Weight wise:

325i saloon 1209kg
325i convertible 1255kg
325i Touring 1290kg

M3 saloon 1220kg
M3 convertible 1360kg

So according to that (and I'm not sure why) the M3 convertible is actually the fat f*ck and a touring 325 is heavier than an 325i Convertible.

I would think the weight of an air con set up is the least of peoples worries. As for the power it saps, My AC in the e39 is never switched off. It actually makes naff all difference to the average joe.

theres no way i can buy myself a nice car and not drive it it would burn a hole in my mind not to use it so the cab useless to me for the money it has to be a M3 i could use

I picked up on it as it was f00king daft to even mention it, especially when the weight of a driver can easily vary as much as 40 or 50kgs. The a/c weight is hardly going to be a deciding factor and certainly a lolworthy point to make. You might as well start offsetting the weight of the roofs and body parts to be fully pedantic.

The irony is your middle para there is a much more salient general point and is a sufficient point to make.

Have to laugh at how far people go to try and win internet arguements.
