Cab is heavier than the saloon due to the extra stiffening in the bodyshell to make up for the fact it has no roof. Thats possibly why the tyres are rubbing, could also simply be cuz the suspension kits were different and the cab is sitting lower.

If the sport was a tech 1 there would have been an extra 45mm clearance to the arch simply because of the shape, early cars have bigger rear arches.

why not a cab buddy ? so my cab weighs 1300kg ? thats not that heavy, sierra cossies weigh about 1400kg dont they ? but you could correct me if im wrong.

No one in the car, the tank was between 3/4's and full.
325 Touring is supossed to be 1270kgs so i've gained 30 odd kgs from putting the M30 in.

I`m reading this with tears in my eyes..... you can not put a fucking ford engine in a bavarian car,that is criminal in my eyes....
I think it whold be cheaper to twin turbo the beatufil M20 lump,than to put a goddamn ford lump(regardles of how many ponnies it has...)....it`s just not write....

A ride in the white E30 featured in the REVS would have certainly changed your opinion. The car was 400bhp+ IIRC, could keep up with most supercars under the sun and handled like it was on rails, something a twin/single turbo m20 based car would struggle with.
That might be all true,but one of the charms that E30 has is in its light rear end,and the M50 engined E30 is allmoast ideal for high speed drifts and with a lot of control in hands of the driver...
however being a drift nut, I usually don`t search for the fastest way thrue a corner,but I search for balance in a high angle and speed drifting,+ I search for a responsive and torqey engine....and I`m a N/A nutter....no turbo for me...

BMW never intended (Still to this day) to mass produce a turbochagred petrol engine. I must admit, when i first saw the Touing with the YB in it, i thought "You Twat", But thinking about it, Why not.

The M20 engine is absolutely brilliant when turbocharged and a well built motor with a big turbo will have far more power output than any YB Cosworth engine ever could.cheaper? nah.
ford engine is a more reliable option.
on standard internals its good for silly power
I have a friend in the states who drag races his M20 engined E30 drag car and his current best is 9.91 seconds at 153 mph with a 1.48 second 60 foot time....show me a Sierra or Excort Cosworth engined car that has better??!!
In fact naturally aspirated the M20 has a low compression ration so with standard internals 500 hp is possible....
It is sacrilage to swap one fopr
I know this because I have built several BMW turbo motors and am currently building an E36 street class drag car FAST 1/4 mile times (read sub 10 seconds hopefully) with a Built S50 B30 BMW M3 Turbo motor in

Friend of mine helps with this YB powered ford escort mk2, it runs 7s all day every day

And a good friend of mine currently has 750bhp off gas from his daily driven sierra cosworth, ive just specced a new nitrous system for it to use on top of that which should deliver 250bhp more when on gas.
Currently it runs 100bhp of nitrous and can do 0-200mph 2 seconds quicker than a mclaren F1
I agree that you can make an awesome engine from the BMW starting blocks, but the advantage with the cossie engine (for people in the uk) is that a couple of grand buys you a complete one with turbo and everything that will drop into your E30, lose you some weight and DOUBLE the power output to 330bhp (whats known as "stage3" in cossie terms)
Im not saying that its the best engien in the world, im saying though its VERy hard to beat for CHEAP power.

its cheap as chips to tune up as well, standard is 204 bhp, another Ԛ£200 takes you up to 270 bhp and another Ԛ£500 takes you up to 330 bhp, im aiming to take mine up to around the 370bhp mark and most of the donkey work has been done already

Gotta agree the YB is a good lump but once you've pissed about changing all the e30 engine mounts blah blah blah wouldn't it be better to turbo the 325 lump that fits in their nicely and you still get the sound or a 6 pot but i find with a helmet on i can hardly hear it
. Or am i just a biased tosser?

the noise from a cossie is hard to beat and i think having an engine that is designed to be turbod is going to prove more reliable than an n/a engine with a turbo bolted on...but maybe im biased too

m20 cant handle 500bhp and to tune it to that would cost way more than the good old cosworth
im with m-dtech on this one, ex cossie owner (twice) with very mildly tuned 2wd saph pushing out 380bhp. Martin Hadland of Reyland's escos was clocked at 197mph and now a couple of cossies have broke the 200 barrier. I love my bmw 325i cab but a cossies a cossie. 20 yrs old and can still mix it with todays offerings for next to nothing
my 1st saph was stg1 tuned to 280bhp and mates m3 evo struggled to keep up

I think a few of you need to pick up a copy of this months PBMW. There is a 325i touring in there with a turbo strapped on pushing 500+
At the end of the day though, for the ease of it I would personally go out and buy a 2wd saph cossie. One day i will and will not look back

IMHO that's an interesting project. I've heard Reyland swapped a Cosworth lump into an E36, the car is said to have been featured in Redline magazine. Maybe you could try and find an old copy of the magazine on Ebay ?
