Hi gents i've come across an old Alpina C1 2.3 and its been stood since 1991! The gent tells me that its in dolphin grey and its a 4 door thats all i know about it what do you reckon i should offer him? Was dolphin available on a C1? I'm going back next saturday to have a look at it as its under a big car cover at the moment. Thanks in advance.

Its a four door and it has been stood for over twenty years = £140 per ton + any morsels that may have survived .

At the end of the day, it's a 2.3 - I wouldn't be excited but I'm sure there will be someone somewhere (possibly in Surrey) who is getting moist at the prospect. Either way, take loads of pics and post them up :)

Might be worth a word with Richard at BigBavarianBeauties - he had a white two door one IIRC, rotten as fook but still morseled up.

It won't be Dolphin, but probably Ascot grey (151). If it's been stood since it was 7 years old, it may not be very rusty. The 2.3 mill was handbuilt and it'll have PAS and a slipper, 7J Alpina 'loys all round etc.
If it's not rough, it's worth saving. Not majorly valuable but worth owning. They were all A and B reg.

Same engine as fitted to the e21 c1 2.3 They need revs by all accounts to get them going, bit flat low down. 325i is a better engine but obviously not as quirky as one of these are

There is a difference between the E21 and E30 engine and that is the E21 uses Bosch K jetronic fuel injection and the E30 uses Bosch LE jetronic.

Also the E30 motor uses a modified 731 head not a 200, different slugs etc.
There was a standard spec for C1's that included electric windows. The white one I had years ago had them, but they were dealer fit and a bit of a lash up.

And the inlet manifold is different.

So all in all, quite a few differences!

Yup.

They're not as good as a stock 325i, but they're an interesting turd and worth saving. I think my old white one will be the only one left in a few years - certainly the only one in proper condition. It should be on the road for 2014, a mere 11 years after I sold it. :D

There's talk of building an authentic 2.3 for it to replace the Griffin 2.7 it has.

Alpine white 1 with beige leathers and gold Alpina pinstripes FTW.
