Hi gents i've come across an old Alpina C1 2.3 and its been stood since 1991! The gent tells me that its in dolphin grey and its a 4 door thats all i know about it what do you reckon i should offer him? Was dolphin available on a C1? I'm going back next saturday to have a look at it as its under a big car cover at the moment. Thanks in advance.

Its a four door and it has been stood for over twenty years = £140 per ton + any morsels that may have survived .

At the end of the day, it's a 2.3 - I wouldn't be excited but I'm sure there will be someone somewhere (possibly in Surrey) who is getting moist at the prospect. Either way, take loads of pics and post them up

It won't be Dolphin, but probably Ascot grey (151). If it's been stood since it was 7 years old, it may not be very rusty. The 2.3 mill was handbuilt and it'll have PAS and a slipper, 7J Alpina 'loys all round etc.
If it's not rough, it's worth saving. Not majorly valuable but worth owning. They were all A and B reg.

Same engine as fitted to the e21 c1 2.3 They need revs by all accounts to get them going, bit flat low down. 325i is a better engine but obviously not as quirky as one of these are

There is a difference between the E21 and E30 engine and that is the E21 uses Bosch K jetronic fuel injection and the E30 uses Bosch LE jetronic.Simon13 wrote:Same engine as fitted to the e21 c1 2.3 They need revs by all accounts to get them going, bit flat low down. 325i is a better engine but obviously not as quirky as one of these are

Also the E30 motor uses a modified 731 head not a 200, different slugs etc.bss325i wrote:There is a difference between the E21 and E30 engine and that is the E21 uses Bosch K jetronic fuel injection and the E30 uses Bosch LE jetronic.Simon13 wrote:Same engine as fitted to the e21 c1 2.3 They need revs by all accounts to get them going, bit flat low down. 325i is a better engine but obviously not as quirky as one of these are
There was a standard spec for C1's that included electric windows. The white one I had years ago had them, but they were dealer fit and a bit of a lash up.

So all in all, quite a few differences!

Yup.
They're not as good as a stock 325i, but they're an interesting turd and worth saving. I think my old white one will be the only one left in a few years - certainly the only one in proper condition. It should be on the road for 2014, a mere 11 years after I sold it.
There's talk of building an authentic 2.3 for it to replace the Griffin 2.7 it has.
Alpine white 1 with beige leathers and gold Alpina pinstripes FTW.
