HI-
Just spent 6 hrs t-cutting and waxing my 320 touring

That Alpine white pain is a nightmare-actually felt like chalk to work on/!?!

does anyone have any idea if this colour suffers from the same 'blooming' that red paint does?

Anyways, its now nearly shiny enough for photo's

let me know if you have any info on this colour

I find my Alpine WHite touring quite the opposite, I find it quite easy to keep looking shiny, much less effort than my grey sport.

I've never had a problem with the white paint oxidising like the red does.

the more i think about it, the more i think that the woman who owned it never knew what wax/polish or t-cut was!
paint was all dull, and would actually take your fingerprint!(if your finger was oily)!

Nice and shiny now tho :D

I had an Alpine white 325 a few years ago,for ten years prior to me buying it,it had only ever been driven through a car wash, never polished!
Gotta say,i didn't find it too bad to polish up,it took several layers over the course of a month to get it nice though :D

:offtopic:
What is this "blooming" that happens to Red cars?! 8O
I only do "enough" to stop my cars rusting (washing it down once in awhile and clearning out mud from gaps and stuff), anything else is a bonus for me and it!

Wil - blooming is when the red fades to that chalky pink colour.

I find Alpine White a surprisingly good colour for hiding the dirty. It's only when you've started washing it that you realise just how much crap is on it.

It's relatively easy to get it looking shiny but i know what you mean about the oxidised look. Wash your car and then go to a petrol station at night. The fluorescent lights show all sorts of blemishes and make it look oxidised. Don't know whether it really is or not.

I like working with white E30s, I found that the paint finish was very good, that first outing with the T Cut is pretty time consuming and hard work, but once thats done, the rest is kids play, just keep using the AutoGlym super resin and extra gloss protection, then next time you want to polish it, it'll take half the time it did the first time.

I bought a 325 M tech 1 in white which had been sitting for month, however after I finished with it, it looked the nuts!

Reds another ball game all together... my e36 is a bitch to get looking good, one door has been painted before which needs a bit more work.

I always find I get a better result from Non metallic colours tho.

My Alpine White E30 is a bit of a c**t to clean.Well it comes up nice when ive washed it but then it shows all the little blemishes, and tiny rust pin pricks near the seals etc. Ive now painted the seals and rockers white to tidy it up, looks nice.

My brother (Rare) is gonna take it down to work and polish it up etc, so it should come up nice.

Anyone got any tips/prefered stuff for white?

2 be honest, i just used metallic tcut (its finer than normal stuff) and several hours of my time.just be extra careful to make sure you overlap the sections you work on. I tcut and wax one panel at a time.

My old white 325i touring was a pain in the arse to keep clean.

I found when it was polished it looked brilliant but if i gave it just a wash without polishing there would be this grey film on the paint that made it look dull :( you could rub a finger on the paint and actually see the dirty/grey film even after a good shampooing (normally washed every 2 weeks)

After constantly polishing after every wash, i gave up and lived with the off white dull colour.
