I've my shell stripped down to the wiring and before I reshell it all into the project car I want to tidy the loom up by getting rid of anything which shouldn't be there and also left overs from an alarm.

What I had that I don't think is standards is:

Switch under steering column with a LED in the loom (seems to be cut and goes nowhere)
Red switch next to the heater controls
Single brown wire coming from the rear door area
and a mess of wires I'd like to tidy up.

Here's the switch and LED from under the column and where it goes and ends

Brown wire connects in to the loom behind the rear seat (I think it might be original?) then runs loosely along the inner sill to a sleeved wire (joined by a purple one) and, not 100% sure any more but from there it goes in behind the speaker and/or to a connector block with nothing on it.

I think the connectors could be un-needed as there's nothing on them and also they are a bit messy compared to the neatly wrapped loom around it.

There's also a pair of blue connectors (speakers maybe) that I'm sure aren't original and not really that neat.

Finally this is left over in the bay, can I just trace it back and cut the wires out from it?

So whats the best way for me to go about cleaning this up a little before I wrap it up with cloth tape.

This is a genuine BMW alarm, so removal should be relatively simple.
Two blue connectors are the connections to flash the indicators. Just unplug and leave the halves going to the big plug and socket.
Immobiliser connection is to a socket with two plain green wires going to it. Cut the plug into this from the alarm wiring, leaving a couple of inches of wires, then solder the two ends together to form a loop. There may be a similar plug nearby, tied up to the loom, with a loop of green wire already fitted.
Everything else, just unplug.

I got a few mins at this earlier and everything more or less unplugged or disconencted. The alarm never worked when I had the car, previous owner had it disabled as it was giving him trouble, some wires were already cut or went nowhere but theres a few still there. Before I chop them of can you say if thats the right thing to do or not.

On this connector I have the following left over
Image
Red/White - goes to other plug
Red (in black slieve) - goes to a joining plug at the sockets
Purple/Brown - Cut out
Purple/Brown & Brown/Black - into the speaker hole and to the rear via the lose brown wire - I'm sure these are for the door switches
Brown/white - went to a switch on the bonnet rail guid
Grey&Red&Blue - Went to a switch of some sort under the steering column

Red wire I can safely unplug this and leave it?
Image

The Purple/Brown wire which I think I can safely cut out as well, can I get rid of the joiner piece and just solder the wires together? Not sure what happens at the rear but I guess I can do the same. I'm putting an after market alarm in so maybe I should keep them?
Image

The other connector:
Image
Green x2 - Were already cut and tapped up
Red/White - goes to the other plug
Blue/Red & Blue/Black - Go to that blue joiner with an inline fuse
Green/Purple & Green/Black - go to a Green/Blue and Yellow/Blue wire in behind the speaker
Red/Black - Together with a brown wire went to a earth point

Do I leave the connectors plugged in and cut the wire with the fuse of?

Green/Purple & Green/Black I just cut them of and will solder the wires properly and heatshrink them

Anything I should leave for a new alarm or am I right with all the above?
