That one's for an automatic 325i from 09/87 onwards, meaning it's Motronic 1.3 and therefore chippable.

The 164 is a dual-PCB, early version of Motronic 1.3 and tricky to chip. You're better off changing it for a later and more reliable 173 ECU (a direct swap), such as the one I currently have on E-bay:

For which I can provide either a Mild or Wild chip, or just keep it with the standard chip that's currently in it.

Good plug, so i can literally just bolt your one on my car, is there any point in going anything less then wild? How much can you provide it with a wild chip bud? Cheers

Buy it outright man, I can vouch for speedtouch, one of his chips just solved my cars running issues. Had the wrong ecu.

I have read a fair bit of feed back in regards to these chips, from what I've read i'm happy to buy it now for sure! Just watching the ECU on Ebay, so hopefully i win the ecu and he can wack a chip in it and i'll buy it as a whole!

Got an ECU with wild chip on its way, hopefully it does what it says on the tin and is actually wild! Looking forward to giving it a try!

Purchased the ecu with the wild chip in yesterday, got it this morning, really fast delivery, can't wait to fit it lunch time and have a play!
