Just got a new chrome rear bumper off Adit, the 2 bolts on the brackets had snapped and were too short so I thought I'd just use my old bumper brackets, but I can't get the ones off the new bumper as the damn round back screw just turns around...
How do I get this out??

Not got a grinder anymore.! The nut on the back is so seized I'm not sure I'd get enough purchase on it that way...
Any other suggestions?

If the nut is far enough down the bolt so you can get to it i'd hack saw the bugger off. Failing that I would hold the screw in a vice. Centre punch the round head of the bolt and drill the head off using a drill just slightly bigger than the diameter of the screw.

Or MIG-weld a small bolt to it and use a spanner/socket to undo it.
PlusGas penetrating fluid is excellent on stubborn threads.

You could try cleaning it, then using epoxy resin (e.g., Araldite) to glue a bolt to it, leave overnight, then try undoing it.

Just left some penetration oil on it, will attack it tomorrow.! Looks like i'll have to go to work with no rear bumper tomorrow, hope I don't get any jib from the fuzz... always kinda liked the de-bumpered look....

i think i'll drill a series of holes along the centre to create a slot, or drill across 2 edges to make 2 flat edge so I can gt my mole grips on it... could get ugly....

Or smash it through the hole and use a washer on the replacement.

If it ain't broke..
Fix it till it is

Coach bolts a horrible inventions. Almost as bad as countersunk cap screws.

Half the problem is the fact that the bumper that the coach bolt sinks into is much softer than the bolts themselves, so if you turn it hard enough it strips the square hole into a round one.! Doh.!
