the heater matrix has been bypassed on my turd and the carpet is full of water so i assume the matrix is fooked. ive had a couple looks but cant see where to get the thing out without taking the whole dash out. anyone have a little walkthrough on how to get it out without taking the dash out?

Remove the centre console and the glove box, disconnect the brake push rod and remove the brake servo swivel/bracket thing. Once all that lot is out of the way it is easy

Take an angle grinder, slice out the gearbox tunnel, drop it out from below.
It's a chunky unit, and it's got sheet metal on two sides and the dashboard on the other four. If you don't want to dismantle the dash...

Changing a matrix is easy enough. Centre console out, disconnect the heater valve from the matrix input, a couple of torx screws and it slides out. I'd replace the two O rings where the heater valve joins the matric though as they always seem to leak when reused.

if you pull the dash out youd wanna get the foam seals for the vents, as they usually disintegrate completely,

Have you read the two posts by the people who could probably do it with their eyes closed?iceox wrote:cheers guys, thinks it clear ive got to get the dash out -_-

The dash doesn't have to come out, the matrix slides out sideways, to the left, so remove the front bit of the centre console, the glovebox and brake linkage.
Then be thankful you don't have a lhd car.
cheers,

Little bit of a thread resurrection, but how is this different with LHD cars? Can you not pull out the matrix towards the right side, where the glove box is on LHD cars?
