I'm fitting my executive retro Pioneer headunit & shizzle and thought I may aswell actually get the power antenna to work.

The antenna and wires are all connected up at the boot end and I have the standard power antenna loom consisting of a red & a white wire running to the accessory socket behind the glovebox.

All I need to know is which sockets to the corresponding white and red wires connect into on the accessory socket?

Now for the drama.

The Pioneer headunit just works off a permanent live and earth from what I can make out.

Connected the earth, then connected the single orange wire from the headunit to the red/green permanent live. There was a short "crack" noise as the wires touched, which did not sound good.

The headunit won't come on and using my multimeter (although I have no idea what I'm doing with that) I seem to have no permanent live anymore.

I've checked fuse 12 and it is intact. The dashboard lights still work. The in-line fuse on the headunit (5A) still is intact.

Where should I be looking next?

I put my old Sony headunit back in quickly to see if it works (uses permanent & ignition live) and it fires into life.

Help as stupid spastic to get his new headunit to work please

Cheers
Lee :)

99% of headunits will need two 12v+ feeds, one perm live, and one ACC switched.

The PERM live is normaly yellow and the ACC switched is normaly red.

Whats the model number of the head unit ?

Cheers mate, I discovered that after some pratting about, the headunit doesn't have a switched live but the 2 amps that it runs do, I plugged them in and it worked.

I will finish off the wiring tomorrow as I need to get rid of the fader on the dash and wire from the amps to the speakers directly by the looks of it.

The white wire from the antenna goes to the aerial output on the HU, normally blue.

Cheers Baz, sorted. Although my ariel is a shadowline, there's a novelty with the ariel going up when I switch the stereo on :)

Got all the speakers wired up, sounds real nice. Just got to mount the autochanger tomorrow and give it some power. Looking forward to drilling the rear shelf underneath, not.
