Might make it easier fitting E36/46 racks if the flexi still bends?

My engine was from a 1988 E32 735i and it had no flexi's? Handy though :D

If you try and bend the flexi to that extent it will last about 5 mins. They are designed to allow the system to move a small amount. Instead of being ridgid right through. They do not like being anything other than straight.

Mine is from a 1987 e32 and it has the same flexi as Alex's and the downpipes were all over the place, still not entirely happy with them now but not too bothered as its all getting ripped out for an m50.

No worries mate, thought it may be of help. I have the flange on the end of the flexi pipe cut and twisted 90 degrees and rewelded on so it clears the steering guibo . Then the same system as described earlier in the thread. That being M30 downpipes into 325 system. The problem I had was the the down pipes came down from the manifold and down far too low, so both had to be modded, one was heated up and bent, the other had to be cut and rewelded, its still not quite right but doesn't leak so fook it

I will Dez, i want it to look original if there are wires and crap sticking out here and there it will bug me to death, i always think that the m50/2 look alot more like they are suppose to be there than m30's do so i will try my hardest, still fancy converting a manifold to use the original brackets at the opposite side of the engine for the airbox.

You will! Imo it would be easier to mask everything off if you just want to tart it up.

If the inlet is leaking, then do it Alex, once it's done, it's done.
Other wise, as lee said, mask it off and be happy

how hard is it to remove the brake servo, do you need to bleed everything if it comes off

If your going 24v at least go 2.8 John, M50 will feel drab compared to an M30. Imo you need to cane them to really get going.

You can get the servo off but it means bending the brake pipes towards the front of the car so it clears.

It might be doable with the servo removed, maybe upgrade to a smaller clio servo while your there.

Good luck. 8O

Image

Next up downpipes off

Yep its a mess, i'am really confused as to why its been welded like that given how easy it is to twist the pipes

Image

Shite off

Image

Back on one hangs lower due to flexy thing

Image

pushed up with my finger Image

Image

Image

found another patch that needs welding

Image

Anyone know where i can get this bung from, it fell out i cleaned it all up with angle grinder and painted with zinc primer

Image

Picked up a nice Beige interior up from duke

Image

Image

Just need to get a 2 piece front section now :D

If you are feeling especially council you can unbolt the master cylinder and move it gently* aside to the point of being able to remove the servo,

I did this last weekend as a precurser to the S50 going in, no hassle at all...

*wrenching with caution

Only other thing which needs doing before mot is the front drivers side wheel makes a grinding noise as you turn the wheel however the disk and pads look good, not had wheel off yet, just wondering what it may be? could the caliper be fooked
