I have recently purchased a 325i sport and wanted to insure it as a classic as it only sees the sunshine and dry roads.
Id like to know what companies people on here are using and if they didnt mind, how much they pay.
Any help is appreciated on this please as iv never taken out classic insurance before so its a first
Thank you in advance

There's no specific advantage to having a classic policy fella. So don't concentrate on just seeking out such policies. Also, you earn no NCD on classic policies. Just bumping the mileage right down on the quotation would bring a fully comp normal policy down by a big chunk.
As your circumstances are different to anyone else, i.e. age, location, occupation, claims history etc etc there's no point asking what other folks are paying.

Only ever used Lancaster for classic policies - last 4 years with E30's.
Paying about £200 currently to include legal expenses, breakdown cover and Agreed value - garaged, limited to 3k pa, used as second car.
36 years old, clean license, reasonable postcode area.
Hoping to get it down a bit by shopping around for renewal next month TBH.

you need to be a min age of 25 i think, also some companies it has to be garaged
classic insurance depends/varies a lot on milage you choose, 1k-5k , so 1500k will be a lot cheaper than a 5k policy
try carol nash and pete best, my tech 1 is currently with pete best £150 , but only 2k miles as i only drove it for a couple of months then put it away

good luck finding anyone to take you on under 25 unfortunately as im in the same situation with a classic policy so my classics are driven under 3rd party extensions and suuch which is a pain.

Happy days

Back on topic, Rob, are Footman James recommended? Might move the 320i onto a classic policy as I'm not going to use it dailly any more

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Just had a look at the Peter Best website as £103 is peanuts and it says they only insure BMW's on classic policies up to 2 litre engines ?Rav335uk wrote:Pete Best insurance £103 F/C for me Ajay, but i do know you have to be over 25 dude, and you're not

Rob, it would have been £83 if it was garaged.capri_rob wrote:Just had a look at the Peter Best website as £103 is peanuts and it says they only insure BMW's on classic policies up to 2 litre engines ?Rav335uk wrote:Pete Best insurance £103 F/C for me Ajay, but i do know you have to be over 25 dude, and you're not

Footman James have been around a long time and seem to be one of the most well known along with Lancaster who have always been good with me.Duke137 wrote:

BUMP
Just done mine today with Adrian Flux
3k milage, garaged, fully comp, £125xs, windscreen cover with £90xs and legal expenses included but no breakdown cover ( not needed as I have cover elsewhere ) agreed value subject to photos & form, suspension mods all declared
Grand total of £140.
Sometimes being a grumpy old bast@rd is worth it

Adrian Flux is looking likely for me too, a quick online quote returned £390 for classic insurance on 4k mileage and all engine mods/conversion declared.
Insurance is bizarre though, I remember when I was 19 looking to renew my 318is insurance and Adrian Flux was nearly £2000 (think I ended up paying Admiral or someone £800), yet 2 years later they insured my Jap car for £400 cheaper than anyone else.

Flux have always been expensive when I've tried them in the past - I think it just depends when you call and how close to their targets they are. Must have just dropped lucky today

Peter Best allegedly wont cover BMW's with anything bigger than a 2 litre engine - sure thats what it said on their online quote system when I had a look anyway.

yes thats what it does say, that and you need to be over 26.capri_rob wrote:Peter Best allegedly wont cover BMW's with anything bigger than a 2 litre engine - sure thats what it said on their online quote system when I had a look anyway.
Thanksfully i meet thier criteria, 318iS would be about £250 with them on driveway. Cheaper if garaged
I didn't think you could insure a car on a classic policy if its your only/main car. My E30 has been my only car for 9 years, now it has company, its my "main" car.
Im paying about £300 on mine with all the mods declared.
