Is there a way of working out MPG from a tank of fuel? I'm getting about 190 miles to about 65l.. Anyone?

I think, if I worked it out correctly, i'm getting about 12-13 MPG This is for a 325 auto touring! WTF???

Yes there is. Well 65liters is about 14 gallon. (But as far as im aware I thought E30's only had 55liter tanks) 190miles divided by 14 = 13.57mpg.
if your work it out using 55liters (12gallon) it equals 15.8mpg. either way thats rather low. Driven carfully you should get about 25ish.

Some of the later E30's were fitted with the larger 65ltr tanks.

That is a bit poor, i am getting around 20-25mpg with my 325i, most of my travelling is around town.

How much fuel can you fit in it?!

The best way of getting an accurate value for your MPG is to fill the tank up to the brim, reset the trip meter, drive around 'til it's nearly empty & then see how much fuel you can fit in & how many miles you've done...

I tried that.. got 178ml.. but not sure if my reserve light goes on or not. I had it down to the red, but no light. I filled up about Ԛ£30 when it was almost to the reserve light.. filled it at approx 90p/l.. How much fuel is in the smaller tank?

55L - roughly Ԛ£50 quids worth at 90p ish / litre. So if you only got Ԛ£30 in, it wasn't empty!

Ԛ£30 at 90p/l for 178 miles = 24mpg
