Probable split fuel hose - help! - SORTED

Had some fun going onto a roundabout today, back end went and figured something was wrong with the diff or a flat tyre. Then the red light came on and I suddenly had no fuel. (I must have had some on the rear tyre). Pulled up and was pissing petrol out from the front nearside wing. Couldn't see where from - late afternoon light - but now thinking its a hose from the regulator to the injection rail?

Are these rubber and perishable on a 325?

Where the fook can I get a replacement - temporary if necessary - on a Sunday so I don't have to leave it where its parked?

Supposed to be running a half marathon tomorrow at 12 so don't have much chance to go very far for a parts place that will close at 12 but happy to go some miles in the derv if anyones got something ??

You should be able to pick some up from any local motor factors for about £4 a meter? And yes, they do perish over time... I noticed mine had gone a little while ago just wehere it joined to the rail, was spraying out when being revved and only spotted it by the off chance, with a ciggy in my mouth

cheap motor factor fuel pipe isn't really up to the job I tried this once and it quickly split again very easily,
325i fuel pipes are under quite a lot of pressure

Yea, will get some from the stealer but just need to get it moving again back from where its parked up, won't be able to pick up the bmw part till Tuesday / weds

In the wiki the hose is 8x13 - would any 8mm id hose do? (again as a temporary patch up)

I expect so, as long as you've got some smaller jubilee clips to hand in case the existing ones can tighten that small.

Yes as long as its 8mm ID then the OD doesn't really matter for the 2 hoses that come from the bulkhead up to the fuel rail.

When I spoke to Cotswold BMW they said they didn't supply it by length.

Halfords has in the past stocked fuel hose when I've been there.

*edit* The one I posted up is the correct OD as well so will fit places like under the cover in the rear wheel arch.

Just thinking, will I need to remove the airbox to get access?

It will make life slightly simpler. From what i remember the 2 pipes are connected to hard lines down by the lollipop bracket. they then run up under the manifold and are clipped to a larger hose then carry on upto the fuel rail and pressure regulator. I suggest you start the engine then pull the fuse for the fuel pump before you try swapping the hose. Also when i did mine the car was up in the air so i did the bulkhead connections from underneath the car. like grrrmachine said if you manange to get some buy a couple of jubilee/hose clips too.

Airbox box is 2 nuts to remove either 8 or 10mm i think.

Leaking at the bulkhead end on a braided cloth type pipe - pissing I should say - plus another leak more in the middle- would explain occasional smell of petrol looks a piece of peepee to swap too and halfrauds just done me proud whoop whoop!

Job done- 40 minutes at the road side in the dark with 5 spent checking the fuel pump fuse number

Would have been much easier to tighten the lower jubilee if it was jacked up. Will have to have another look anyway as was rushing and haven't fitted to the h-clamps yet, old pipe is still there. Beside, might swap for a BMW version though tbh it looks pretty chunky.

Also inspired me to fit my recon injectors since the description on pelican of doing this made it sound pretty easy. Had a quick burn and she's sounding sweeeeeet

... oh yea only downside was fooking sheeite time in the half marathon. 2 hrs and 1 minute Supposed to be running a full marathon in April, on that performance its going to be painful

You might want to hang onto the halfords fuel lines a little longer, recently changed mine....£25 each from the stealer!! Cha-ching!!
