Is it an uprated pressure plate too?

New clutch is in with standard pressure plate. No more slipping. Next is a set of 650cc injectors and a better ratio diff.

One point to make, the duel mass fly weighed 19.4kg complete with clutch assy. The e28 single mass fly weighed 18.6kg complete with clutch assy, This is because of the size and weight of the pressure plate on the single mass. So unless going for a m5 fly, there's no point other than getting rid of the gayness of the duel mass.

How heavy is your e28 fly on its own? 8O

Is the e28 m535 fly lighter than the normal e28 one? As that is what I have, and the flywheel/clutch combination felt noticeably lighter than the dualmass fly/clutch from my e34 engine.

Im sure my fly and clutch only weighed in about 12-13kg, although im on an e28 525i fly at 7.5kg so the clutch kit should only weigh about 5kg.

New 620cc injectors = Big smile on face.

The car is starting to get really good now, Spent 3 hours live mapping last night, needs about another 8 - 10.
Diff has started to whine, probably due to the torque increase, so i have a few little jobs to do now. I have just ordered a 3.23 diff and getting Gareth to build it up for me.
Having the gearbox rebuilt at the same time along with the rear beam.

I've just dug out some photos of when I converted my E32 735i manual from dual to single mass E28 2.5/2.8 flywheel and E28 M535i clutch. I weighed everything and lost 4kg in the process. The clutch was nearly brand new and the total cost including the fly was around £120, so a healthy saving there compared to a new dual mass clutch.

I cant understand the benefit of using an uprated plate with a standard clutch cover :?

Plenty of benefits, better friction material, and the obvious that it now holds power fine as before it was slipping as soon as the boost came in. This will be fine untill the power starts getting to around 450+
Keeping the standerd pressure plate also keeps the clutch 'light' and is better for road drivability.

This is just after I fitted the new gearbox.

Running 10psi for now and its holding nicely. Fitted the oil catch tank and a few other bits.
Pulls like a train at the min so I have good expectations of future power.

Thanks everyone. I have now took the car off the road for a month, I feel the engine is slightly overpowering the cars handling so some improvements need to be made. New shocks are a must aswell as a rear beam build. Also throwing the 3.07 diff in.
Im turning to boost up to 12psi to see how it handles it. I will also try and get it on the rollers to get a figure.
Ill get some more pics up as im doing the work.

Right, the car is finally back on the road! After a good deal of rear end work on the car.
I had everything powder coated and have fitted powerflex arbs, beam, trailing arm and diff bushes. Febi e46 rear top mounts, wheel bearings and arb drop links. A very clean fuel tank to replace my holy one. New fuel lines, breather lines, and filter. And to finish it off some bilstien b8's.

I also put a 3.15 diff in there thats made all the difference. Car feels tight. But i have had some probs already. Not happy with the diff bush, looks like it has sagged. Also broke a rear top mount today driving over a small drain  so im looking at the rouge engineering ones :D
