and EDC is not mentioned at all.

This cable runs through the bodywork to the damper I believe, will take wheel off over the weekend to confirm. I am just wondering if I am totally barking up the wrong tree.........

If I'm not mistaken that is a cable to the abs sensor on that hub, it is usually attached the the strut via a couple of brackets with push in rubber grommets.

Photo shows the ABS sensor connector.

The gadget in the boot is the ECU for your switchable auto box.

At a rough guess,a previous owner has added a second(perhaps replacement)control to the centre console.

I have NEVER seen or heard of a non M3 with EDC. My guess is some council type wanted to impress his mates by fitting an extra knob

Takes five minutes to lift the rear console and see if there's any wiring connected to the switch. A single 10mm nut under the rear ashtray holds it in place.

Surely the quickest and easiest way to tell if EDC is fitted is to stick your head under the back of the car and look at the rear dampers ? - No dismantling of anything required !

@Pacer, I'd be surprised if it was that as its a well looked after and tidy car, apart from the wiring to the sub in the boot ;o))

@Hairy, the knob is fairly free moving but you can feel that its a 3 position switch.

@Brian, if the weather is ok over the weekend I'll be lifting out the center console to see whats underneath, maybe I was just hoping that it had it fitted and let my imagination run wild.

EDC is NOT something you want on a 20 year old car . It was of dubious benefit even when it was new , now it is a load of 20 year old frag waiting to expire, expensively.

Gentlemans bet it's been bodged in for turning the sub amp on/off

One that diagram is states fuse 21 and 26 and they are in place, I'd be buggered if I new where it is fused.

I may have a couple of photos and will post them up in a moment.
