Just a quick note,

Had a great drive earlier spanking it up the nearest stretch of dual carrageway, it was one of those moments where all the little niggling things i want to improve or fine tune were forgotten.

Happy days!

Thanks Guys,

Good to meet you yesterday dude!

Yes the turd has seen a fair amount of action over the last few years, as it stands i'm looking into a cometic MLS head gasket to loose .5mm to increase compression ratio and produce more power n/a, will be taking advice from Ant on this. My thinking is that rather than going for the perminancy of decking the block the unit can go low compression again without drama. Thinking of selling the engine if the right money is offered and buying the building blocks of a 3.1 litre m20 from IE.

No real issues with the car beyond needing to replace a wing at some point in the future.

Yesterday, as mentioned above, i popped over to Peter's and relieved him of 4 doors and a bonnet. While the car looks ok in pictures the doors (and Bonnet to an extent) were like the surface of the moon with all manner of small dings and tin worm was starting to set in on the leading lower edges.

So with some spannering...

Much nicer pannels to be corrected prior to the BBB BBQ next friday.

Set about curing a bad case of red/black door socket corrosion to get the central/dead-locking operational. LM & Copper Grease applied to ensure nice smooth action all round.

Even some waxoil, seemed rude not to with the cards off...

A bit of effort but very pleasing to have some straight pannels back on the car

Well today a colleague backed into my car whilst it was parked

The result? every panel on the front end bent, plus the drivers lights smashed...

Driftcock FTW,

Gutting but these things happen and at least it looked shiny the other week...

Updates to follow, even if its pictures of the turd being weighed

It was an honest mistake so i'm fairly zen about it,

Insurance won't be much of an issue, just damned inconvenient :(

FFS  How long has that bonnet been fitted? A month? I have seen less damage result in a cat status, it should not come to that but i will get your valuation sorted for you mate.

Cheers Dude,

Trying to work out if its clipped the rad as an unhealthy trail of fluid just followed the car from the house to the garage, if so i'll just throw 10 litres in the boot spare in case...

I'm sure you have spare rads kicking about...

Most definatly Barry,

Thats two insurance cases in as many months almost!

Neither my fault i hasten to add...

First repair estimate was £1400 i'm guessing this one (assuming properly corrected) at £2000,

thats a good 325 right there... Its crazy! 8O

Well as of late not a lot has happened as i'm 'barging' it day to day, the moordoor has only been out of the garage once since the touring rocked up,

Pressed up the tyres and gave it a run, i guess i've been spoiled because it feels so up and together after driving a car with standard suspension and comfort seats,

Need to replace the rack and probably throw on a new clutch kit,

Worth fitting a lightened flywheel at the same time?

Cheers Dan and Dez,

I've spent a few evenings now coating them with poorboys sealant, seems nice enough to work with although getting into every little recess of the spokes is a fooking pain, two of the center caps have had three coatings and one of the alloys has had a single good coat.

I think i'll try for two good coats on the wheels before the tyres are mounted and a third after, i havent touched the inner barrels as these will need balancing weights.

Toyo Proxes again, never had any issues and i'm yet to be recommended a better alternative in 205/55/15.

Still need to sort bonnet, valance, wings... rear arches could do with a tidy as well. At least in its new home these issues can be tackled with a cup of tea in hand and banging choons to spur me on,

Have to send her to Penton for a replacement rack soon, manual steering is a pain in the arse!
