Just finised replacing my bushes. Not that hard. YOU WILL NEED SOME SORT OF EXTRACTION TOOL.
Place the new bushes in a bag & then the freezer the night before starting work.
First drive up onto car ramps.( Rear end :-) ) Block front wheels.
Place trolly jack under the middle of the subframe to take the weight & loosen the 2 coller nuts ( 1 each side )about 6 turns, do not remove. To remove the 2 Knurled bolts ( 1 each side ) you will have to use a large hammer ( well i did ) untill thay move. Then remove the nuts & the bolts. Remove the 4 push rod bolts & pushrods. Let down the trolly jack so that the subframe just hits your exhaust. Now it should be posible to place the extraction tool in place to remove the bush. You may have to help pull down the subframe.
If like mine the ally rod has snaped inside the car bodywork you will have to drill 1 side of the ally bush & the using a chisel remove the rest of the bush ( BIG THANK'S TO DAVE T ). Coat the new bushes in car wax & fit to subframe. Lift subframe & fit Knurled bolt, push rods & nuts. Hope that helps. Any questions just ask.

Have a look for the thread " diy rear beam bush puller " . There are two versions both made out of scrap that was lying around and both work .

Hey, not trying to hijack the thread but seeing as you are talking about the rear subframe.

I tried to tackle this about a year ago but the Allen Key bolts that hold on the Subframe are all completely rung, the previous owner must have tried to do them before. :(

Any way to work around this? :)

you could try smacking in a torx tool. Works for the allen bolts on the disk rotors!

Drill them out and replace with new nuts and bolts, it's what most people have done.

Slice the captive nut off the back of the mounting plate with Mr Angle Grinder.

Use standard M8 bolts of a suitable length with nyloc nuts going back.
Take great care not to damage the lower plate,I think that they are currently on back order!

Thanks guys, :) so theres lots of ways around it den. :P I'll try drilling and replacing with nuts and bolts. :)
Is it really necessary to chop the captive nut off, i mean would it be safe to leave them and just drill and replace?

Easier and quicker to slice the nuts off!

(as the actress said to the bishop)

I replace with stainless steel bolts/nyloc nuts,I've need to take them of once,so I'll need to take them off again sometime in the future, this way it will be easy next time.

Hi
Sorry to not have answerd you emails but have not been on pc for a long time. Sorry no pics of the tool but same as To remove bolts i just sprayed with WD40 the day before & used a larg mallet. You may be able to use a bottle jack on the bolt & push it through. You never know it may work, hope it will.
