Im still running a 3.73 slipper which is a tad short even for a standard M30.

Im swaying towards a 3.46, if your running over 300hp id be aiming for a 3.25 or maybe a 3.15.
Ive done a compression test on the lump today
All in fine form with pressure ranging around the 11.5 bar mark

Brakes all sorted
With that done ive been out for a 40 mile blast, fook me its quick and a right handfull to keep in a straight line, it doesnt accelerate it Charges
All this fun didnt last long though
All of a sudden the temp gauge was on the 3/4 mark, fan on and blower on but it still wouldnt cool down. I limped it home with the bonnet popped with both blowers on.
Main suspect was the stat, so when i got home i opened it up and found this

Can you see the cracked bit in the middle?
Im trying to think how old this stat is, ive gone through my thread and cant find when it was new but iirc i brought it when i first done the swap two years ago.
New stat on order tomorrow

My Land rover V8 engine mounts turned up today
The standard M20 ones were due a change anyway, they wasn't squashed but if i grabbed the engine i could rock it side to side a bit too much.
Its like its on blocks of wood now
Here they are.

They are slightly smaller in height than the M20 one's. LR ones are 37mm M20 ones are 45mm.
Here they are compared to each other.

Got a couple of 7mm spacers and jobs a good un.

Fitted.

There is quite a bit of clearance between the rack and sump so may be able to lose some mm of the spacer to get the engine lower down

They're harder than original mounts; 75mm x 50mm and specifically meant for m30 swaps.

I bought a set of these as well, have got some uprated m20 mounts on the car at the moment, was going to do a back to back to test to see how they compare.

Pod times are in.
1st run was 14.3 then second was 14.2. I know i could of sqeezed a 14.1 out of it but the engine isnt running as it should so i gave up.
Crank sensor is giving iffy readings also its running quite rich. Injectors are a suspect too so with all those sorted hopefully it will be fine.
Word of warning, dont buy a crank sensor from GSF, picked one up saturday morning but before i put it on i tested it with a multimeter. It should read between 500 - 580 ohms to run right, GSF one read 730ohms
took it back with my multimeter at hand to swap for another but that was reading just as bad. got my refund and fooked off
Anyway...

And another comical shakey video my lad took
You need the sound on, goo on dad thrash the mini.
lads eh!

Once its up to scratch ill be nipping over to Shakespeare's to do a few runs as its not that far from me.

Sorry I didnt get to hook up with you mate, we had a nightmare getting past the traffic for Silverstone F1. By the time we arrived at 12pm I think you may have gone. We only stayed an hour as the swarms of tiny flies were unbearable for my missus. Was great though! Your times look good. Be interested to see how your tweaks improve things. Are you considering fitting a turbo at any point? I would possibly, but only something modest

James, i was there from about 8am till about 4pm
havent really touched the car since the pod either,
well apart from monday i swapped the ECU for my old one with the pina chip in but it didnt make a blind bit of difference
Ive got a spare set of injectors to send off to be cleaned so thats next on my list, Im swaying towards a genuine CPS from BMW too but at around £80 a rip for something that may not cure it im a bit dubious about it.
Dan, ill let you know when im going, wouldnt be a bad idea for a 'meet'??
Where's Rav our tame meets organiser
Yes Jer its Stratford upon Avon

Turbo may be a future project.....
But, more to the point ive solved my running problem
Before it felt like somthing was holding it back and spluttery every now and then.
Changed/tested almost everything on the engine, i even tested the loom
It was the dizzy cap
I had a bit of a shed clear out the weekend and came across a nearly new genuine dizzy cap (came across about 5 of them, lol) but this one was in the best condition so gave it a quick clean up ready to put on.
Now, M30 bruvs, changing a dizzy cap on these donks is no easy feat, there's not enough room between the rad and cap to get it out, if there was say 5mm more room it would be a peice of cake.
But it wasnt..

I ended up lifting the engine off its mounts about a couple inch with a trolley jack under the sump
This gave enough room (just) to slide it out.
Anyhooo...
Once all back together i took it out for a blat. Nice country lanes are about 2 miles away from me so thats where i headed...
Lets just say its done the trick
Fooookin hell! this is how a B10 should behave
it now pulls cleanly, smoothly and very strong all the way to the limiter, it doesnt seem to run out of breath like normal M30's do, @ 5k it keeps pulling hard. I suppose its the head work done by Alpina, cam, bigger valve's and Hemi chambers. I dont know??
All i know is i cant wait to drive to work tomorrow.
Well i dont know what was wrong with the dizzy that was on it, no sign of cracks and the contacts inside didnt seem that worn?
Ive seen some That look like the contacts have got an Afro on them
Here's the cap i took off

I dont know, maybe its failed inside??
Next up, Injectors, they have about 130k on them so well overdue a service.
If it isnt running perfect after that i may spunk out for a new CPS from BMW
Oh, and i bewildered a Golf R32 driver tonight, so funny when he got to the next set of lights

I did mine a while ago, but ended up taking the rad out instead.
Glad it's now properly running mate.

Cant easily take the rad out of mine, i have to remove the front end to get to the bolts securing it, then the pita draining and bleeding the system again along with trying to get the bottom hose back on.
