I have the exact welder as you! Setting number two on the amps max and the wire feed set to about 3 for normal welding or 4 when upside down.

Keep practicing. If your like me you will get a wet tip when you grind your welds off and they look half decent.

So the carpet should stay dry now! Mudflaps are a bit to blame on this car imo.






Don't they all rot here?! spot welds from the the factory with that little bracket that holds the filler neck up. I can't remember the last E30 i had that didn't need welding here, PYF, option miester, 2door pina, pina touring

Pulled it out the bag here, i'm not expert but this is a nice repair imo






The outer lip of the arch wasn't very clever here, but it was creeping in on the inner. In order to the get to all the inner grot you have to cut away at the outer. None the less, Andy has made another nice job here. I can flood this from both side with the right gear

A lucky one this, the driver seat would stay up, so if you leaned it back or forth it wouldn't hold. No good for driving in general. we managed to get it to hold for the drive home but its been sad ever since. So i was expecting broken bits etc. After a few bits stripped off and a good fiddle it needed no more that a clean up and re grease. The kind of repair i like, so fully functioning seat again for 15 mins p!ssing about.



So its all on me again, Andy has made a nice job i think of the welding and now its all ASAP for MOT before the month is out is the goal. Seam sealer out 2moro ready for some shultz gun action and then getting her back together

I`ve always wondered what is that primer that u use on the bare hole before welding ? Is it a special welding primer or zinc primer? Good job with the welds by the way

It is a coating for metal surfaces prior to welding, which permits corrosion protection after the weld.

Very nice work on this Simon - have you checked the bulkhead behind the pedal box and round the wiring loom ? - seems to be a lot of cars poping up with rot spots there - you've done every other problem area by the look of it !

Fear not windscreen was covered John it was all well covered up! What with the lovely weather its been a great chance to crack on and get this show on the road


BMW's very own underseal, i had 2 part filled cans left. This stuff is the shizzle imo. Was under a £10 a can and it goes a very long way







Various areas given a good blast, don't worry every bit got a seeing to with this.






filler work mainly done by my neighbour, i did a little to learn along the way. P38 FTW!







Primer/painting




I'm pretty pleased with the overall result, considering the BOB the builder DIY effort






A liberal coat of cavity wax, this stuff is clear. so its hard to see sometimes where you've applied it!



That small plate is behind this lot....... hard to photo but some cavity wax behind it and were good to go for the refit




Glued the sound deadening back up and no more grot here on the bulkhead




I think the paint job might need another go here to make it as good as the arch battery tray



Had to change the clocks as the old ones were goosed. they came from a 4 pot so the coding plug was swapped but it didn't have the "check" bit. So a bit more tinkering





out with the 4 pot blanking plug as such




and in with the check one




fuel breather system and filler neck back in.




non headlamp wash wipe rings attained from the scrappy. I didn't have any silver paint and i've done this black thing before and thought it looks nice to my eyes




Along with a nice zinnobar red bumper



So all back together on the drive




ready for a quick spin around the block




every clip on in re fitted all zipped up here



Check the morseled boot! tool kit, jack wheel chock first aid and all that sh!te. Even a torch in the glove box (doesn't work though!)

So there we are all back up together just needing a really good homo clean up. But the main point is its ready for MOT so thats booked for weds. Hopefully it won't be nit picked, done my best so all you can do is hope!

thanks all it drives A1 no sqweeks rattles. Mark this is a good point. As the guage isn't right i thought earlier yesterday. as its ready 21mile range on the OBC without the light on. I put 6 litres in it out of a fuel can and it stayed the same. Back out they come again

MOT is wednesday, for an appearance at Ace maybe! A powelly buffty is going to be the finishing touch

12 month ticket on her now took it to the nit pickers next my dads worshop. They failed to disappoint!


Advisorys as follow.

Welding to the floorpans both sides, they'd of failed it if it had big bloody holes in it!

slight play in nearside front wheel bearing...... this is mentioned in the last 2 MOT's! but the car has done 5,000 miles in that time

I'll take that as 1 advisory on a wheel bearing


Best get a forsale ad done then so who wants it!! I'd consider this fully rescued with life in her for many years yet lets hope
