you got shafted
a friend stacked their car a couple of years back, and it had no MOT. they genuinely forgot about it and had expired 6 months prior. insurance paid out, police were not interested at all.
if you have insurance, you have insurance. thats a fact, only an insurance company can void your insurance or say if you are insured or not, and not pay out but they will pay any damage to a 3rd party regardless. thats the whole point of insurance to protect not only yourself but anyone else involved
the same applies to drink driving and crashing. on some policies there is a clause that says they will not pay for your damages. but in most cases they will still pay
if you have no MOT, you are still insured FACT. the 6 points will not be put on your license
an MOT is not proof of a car being road worthy, you can drive out of an MOT test centre with a fresh ticket and in a days time you have blown a side light bulb. thats an MOT fail , is the car dangerous ?
