You've been very, very badly advised if what you say is true.

If your car was not unrodworthy - other than simply not having an MoT - you really ought to get in touch with the insurance ombudsman, and a solicitor, because you've been royally shafted.

Er, no Rav, you decided that rather than just go and buy the car - which was but a few miles away, you'd wait till the morning and try and knock the guy down on price. I paid the full asking price over the phone. That's not gazumping, that's just a combination of greed and foolishness on your part.

No it isn't Boyd, I had all intensions of getting the car, but i phoned him in the evening, no way am i going to buy a car in the dark, no matter how small the asking price.
BTW, is it a fragger then?

Far from it. I think it'll make a really good car, Under 100000 miles with history to back it up, Solid, lots of new parts, runs and drives well.

For an MoT, it needs a couple of brake pipes and a rear bumper.

It'll get a roof, an MoT, a pair of bumpers, a front spoiler, a couple of bolsters on the driver's seat, and the paintwork tidied up and it'll get moved on, hopefully at a modest profit.

you got shafted

a friend stacked their car a couple of years back, and it had no MOT. they genuinely forgot about it and had expired 6 months prior. insurance paid out, police were not interested at all.

if you have insurance, you have insurance. thats a fact, only an insurance company can void your insurance or say if you are insured or not, and not pay out but they will pay any damage to a 3rd party regardless. thats the whole point of insurance to protect not only yourself but anyone else involved

the same applies to drink driving and crashing. on some policies there is a clause that says they will not pay for your damages. but in most cases they will still pay

if you have no MOT, you are still insured FACT. the 6 points will not be put on your license

an MOT is not proof of a car being road worthy, you can drive out of an MOT test centre with a fresh ticket and in a days time you have blown a side light bulb. thats an MOT fail , is the car dangerous ?
