I saw this in the flesh today, part of The problem is the fact it's still a bit grubby, it has a lot of in grained dirt which detracts from the colour, it's also rather shiny which always makes leather look crap, when the rest of the interior is back together and it's re coloured the red against black will look epic.

yes ! :D

Si that really looks awesome, it works really well with the black carpet ect, did it come with speaker covers parcel shelf ect ?

I sold this shelf with shagging blind red premiums ect, it would be perfect.. I will ask the chap who owns it if he wants to sell I know he hasn't used it

Steve you'll save me a job, BUT i was going to dye my blind/shelf black. If you could find out i'd be interested. I have a red shelf but non blind which i won't be using. I have pioneer 100W 5 1/4 speaker covers OE style to go in. It all needs to be seen in the flesh. As powelly said, needs TLC. Driver lower bolster foam. The tilt forward mech isn't working on the drivers seat and theres another bracket broken which means you can pull the top half of the seat to one side my a inch!

I'll say it again, in the fleash it doesn't look red :hammer: I don't know what shade it is, and i don't really care as i really like it.

They'll be more out cry when the scorpion centre box goes on with the RD manifold!

I will chase up the shelf,

so long as the leather bolsters aren't split I don't see a problem with the mechs ? these seats are easy to rebuild just use a decent sport seat frame..

I have brand new set of NLA BMW lower bolster/ base foam kit if it's any good ? :D

in time, loom is in but i think its something i can wait and get done over a winter. Its a bit pointless bar those cold spring morings if i use it then i suppose but we want the switches to work and not be for show like a fake A/C switch!

Aargghh - you're just being contrary for the sake of it! You know Cardinal is the biz you've said so many times!

Cardinal is deep darker blood red and such is classier and rarer lookig. Crimson almost looks like a retrim as it's so loud.

Plus you know red is the number 1 chave retrim choice out there...

Image

cardinal is more muted, just more sophisticated - and dare I say rarer...

Thats a retrim. The seat backs are cardinal, the seats look more crimson ! Most 20+ year old interiors look quite different to how they were new. Years of harsh sunlight, recolouring, feeding. treating, cleaning have taken there toll :(

I have a set of brand new OE BMW seat covers for M3 sport seats and they look SO unlike any E30 seat I have seen in years .

Yeh - they;re all matt and soft when new. Nothing like the harsh shiny vinyl your average E30 leaverz.

But you know what I mean - Cardinal is the boss red.

PBMW ! Ratch, this is a family forum, keep it clean.

Next thing Bootyman will be along to advise on piping options and how to fit 6 TVs to each seat ! :)

PS Sorry Ratch, that/ cardinal just looks like crimson that has sat in the sun for too long.

I really need to get my eyes tested as they all look the same shad to me.

The red works so well with Si's car it is a no brainer to fit it on a perminate basis.

I've seen Cardinal up close, MINT Cardinal and it is a far superior shade of red than the OTT Dracula's bathroom that is Crimson.

Pete - If Cardinal had sat in the sun it would go less saturated and lighter - not darker and deeper.

Gotta love the different opinions, seeing as we openly invite them on this thread. Its soooooooooooooooo staying in, so with a very sad baited breath i guess the black will go up forsale. I've been storing it for 4 years for this car. opps. The wife is saying WTF - why keep seats for this time and then buy some different ones to go in. Which i have to agree with really. Gotta gets this wagon on the road asap!

If anyone knows of the where abouts of my old sport F942 MGD in Lachs, i have its factory leathers here!! should go back to it really.

Seats/doorcards look great,Simon, but I'm not convinced about the carpet...

This has taken time and a huge hunk of folding, needs to be just what you want.

Well i'm afraid thats where you are wrong.

Malco to me the carpet makes it just right, if it was red it would be too much to my taste. I think the shelf dyed black would work for it also, but i'm coming round to red poss like Topless posted. So only the middle area as such is red top and bottom black.

I'm looking at it now thinking job done people. Its about as good as i'll ever get it. I can't spend any more time or effort that i already have to get this far. I can honestly sit back and say its been a 100% effort. I've f**ked stuff before in ones life but its not this. Bar buying a B6 or S what else can i get for it? I'm VERY indecisive (sp) hence all the what do you think threads, but i like to know what everyone thinks. Sometimes i don't like what i read but if i ask i have to take it. The great thing is we don't all agree, and when its done people will say "si should painted it blue" or "get those council springs off"

Being me would of been a nightmare if i bought a new car or had the money. Deciding on colours especially. Plus Black works with nearly everything? black, white, silver, cream, red, brown hell even the right blue would be ok

I was looking at the interior and the car as a whole yesterday thinking we are there and the engine build is sooooooooo close to coming together its there.
