fuel pump

i have an external fuel pump on my 87 pre face chromie, is that the only fuel pump? or is there another in the tank?

No, there will be another in the tank behind the driver seat... There is in my 320i, and I know of 3 other 6 cylinder chromies.

Hmmm... I thought I was sure, but I may be confusing what I thought to be a pump with some thing else? I have wired it up to a battery before now though and its pumped the fuel up so assuming its a pump?
Anyone else elaborate?

i have a 320i chromie
and only have the one pump located underneath on the passenger side

There appears to be versions with both set ups, but I've no idea what models/ages have which, as I don't get involved with pre facelift stuff.
The only E30 I have with an external pump is a facelift '87 318i, and that has two pumps.

Propably a low pressure sender unit in the tank, then the external fuel pump.

All the tank assemblies have a three pin level sensor. Ones with a pump have a two pin plug as well.
