By the way - if youd seen my earlier thread on my oil starvation issue - the car was sounding like a buggered 1960s VW at the top end - very rattly lifters BUT at only high revs - motorway only 70 mph and NOT at start up or city driving just when hot and hi Revs High pressure ...

SOLVED it !! we lifted the engine from below and dropped the sump and all was revealed

It was a combination of a buggered split Sump gasket - letting air into the sump and also a stray loose bolt in the sump half blocking 50% of the oil pickup inlet mesh for the oil - so drop in oil pressure at high revs on motorway - there was no varnish or sludge evident in the sump or pickup ....which was a relief

she drives like a baby now - smooth and effortless in auto - im one very happy owner - proving a bit of tenacity and enquiry can solve tappet clatter - she runs so quiet now

also going to use this wonder stuff from states with no detergents AUTO RX
http://www.auto-rx.com/index.html

sounds very very good - and its not a harmful flush

also bought the Zinc Phospherate additive - heard very goo things from the states and UK and Germany as you / we all know since 93 when CATS came in ... even our good oils have dropped the valuable Zinc content levels needed in our engines -

again this is not a harmful additive and comes with excellent reviews - google it etc

maybe get that zinc and phosphorus back in your Oil via this ;
