I have just got a rather nice E34 525 touring which has a double sunroof,
The sunroof has not been used for over a year, what kind of dramas are involved if it opens and will not shut.

TBH I never really take much notice, just power them back, remove the motor if it works and leave open to fill to the brim with light iron

These are a complicated affair and if they go wrong (Pete will probably change that to WHEN) they can cause all sorts of drama's.
I'd open the f*cker and see whats what. When open lubricate everything as I suspect, it's a lack of maintenance that does them no favours.
Then jump on the 5 forum under e34 section to ask how you close it again!!
Hopefully you won't need that last part but the forum aint a bad place to be if you own a 5!

A Bmw Master Tech once gave me some good advice regarding double sunroofs... "Don't touch it"..
