Yup the malacite green that once was is no more, the paint had a reaction and so I opted for straight out black, not a top class job, but hey im on a budget, so here are the before:

Thanks for all the comments it really is my pride and joy, much to the dismay of my other half.

1 switch either side of the gearstick is a sign that your leccy windows are retro fit. i.e. not original spec.

Have you got little plastic discs on your door cards where a manual winder would go too?

So where are leccy window switches then? or maybe perhaps yours might be retro fit winkeye

sorry, my point was a bit unclear

all leccy window switches are on the centre console, either side of the gear stick, what I should have said is retro fit stuff (like mine) only has 2 switches (1 each side) whereas factory stuff has an extra switch in there, making a total of 3 switches (2 being on the driver side of the gear stick) or so I was led to believe

but I could be absolutely full of shit here

someone save me :D

facory fit leccy window has 1 switch either side of gearstick to put the windows up and down and 1 additional button on the drivers side to stop the windows from being able to go up and down, this is on a 2 door anyway, four doors have five and a half, if it has all round leccy windows, 4 for up and down, 1 to cut off all windows and a half button which is to cut off only the rear windows, took me ages to figure out what that switch was for!!!  I can only guess but i would say retro fit windows dont have the cut off switches? i suppose they could easily be put in as dummies though.

OK yup my window are original, the third switch, the cut off one, I er moved and replaced with the sunroof switch.

Simon I know p**sed me off no end when we had paint problems, so I was really annoyed, went all the way to north Londaon to get the car in that colour in the first place!!!! Oh the lights came with the car doing some smoked hellas now, shouldnt be too long.

Money wise, everything was done by me in the mecahnical dept, welding a mate did it in exchange for spares, and the respray itself was a VERY good friend of mine, that and Im dating his daughter. All I paid for were parts, materials and my wheel refurb. The wheels were done a mate who works at BMW, very cheap and I mean very cheap!

Thanks for all comments guys, hopefully see some of you at the donny show next weekend.

Regards Mark

My track car is a facelift model on an F plate but has non smiley headlights. Did they maybe wait a year after the facelift and then change the headlights or was it a case of BMW saying " we'll just use up all these non smiley lights on the facelift cars before we start to fit the smileys"???

I would have said they've been replaced at some point too, facelift on the saloon was pretty straightfoward.

There's an E30 around my way, it has one smiley lamp, and one pre facelift light, it looks silly!

thanks guys, I love the badges too, trying to get them for the centre caps, looks a bit dodgy with blue ones. First need a fuel tank, working gauges and bit of wiring!!!!

fair comment fella, they wont be going on the tourer, but the car didnt suit blue badges and I didnt want them filling in, so carbon it was, I liked them but only on black cars.
