reminds me when we had an early Mx-5 in with a short nose crank which wears down with age, you know this when you look down the pulleys and see the bottom pulley shaking around which in turn creates a hell of a noise..its blatantly obvious when looking at the front of the engine..
customer pulled to the side of the road called the AA..he came out took one look and his diagnoses..
"water pump bearing faulty"

it got towed to us we took one look and had to break it to the customer that it would be a little bit more expensive then she first thought lol
its true though there must be a couple of good technicians who know about cars..most of them howeever are profesional jump starters..
