When I bought the car 320i cabby (1990), the driver's window was stuck up. I thought it would be the motor. I installed a second hand motor and mech from BMBitz.

The two feed wires read ~15v and ~-13v when Icheck with my multimeter.
But neither motor (old or new) will work on the harness.
Neither will work on my 18v DC rig either (an old lego toy), but both work when connected direct to the car battery. The old one is noisy and slow though. I swapped the cabin switches over too and they showed no change, so.....
..... what is at fault?

Is there a dodgy relay? Could I be down on Amperage in the loom? I am trying to recall Ohm's law, but it has been a long time since I taught it last. :?

check the plugs in the doors for corrosion.

No relays in the circuit BTW

Plugs in the doors? Can't even find the taps......

The wires have been spliced on the drivers door. The old mech had spade terminals slotted in. The new mech has a plug to fit. Is there a loom plug between door and A pillar? Or is it the plug that links loom and motor that you meant?
NB, looks like next weekend for the belts, unless I get sometime tomorrow morning.

the plug is a big fat white connector with a rubber boot over it. You can't miss it TBH.

Seat belts... No problem. Lots of stuff to sell but no space left to store it all

I'll have you know that I can!!! LOL!

I'll check for the connections in the boot, but I am getting a damn good voltage further downstream than that.

I thought I'd killed it today after doing some work on the cooling. It seems to have settled down, but the idle is still bad and the oil level light is on.
Live and learn......

I could not get either motor or mech to graft on the loom already in the door. Going direct from the switch to the mech saw the mech work. I have replaced the old wire with new multicore. The window works!

Running the new wire in through the rubber boot was fun........

in the end I found some steel tube and pushed that through the boot, then slid the new wire through that.

Tah- dah!!
