Are you lowering comp with a thicker gasket?

What sort of boost can these things take with standard comp?

What sort bhp are you hoping to run?

Sorry for the questions mate but interested in this look like its going to be epic!

Standard OEM gasket so original comp ratio.
Will be running low boost,around 7 psi I think.
According to Gunni 300 brake is easilly achievable with standard gasket/management so anything around towards that figure id deem a success

Victor Reinz do an over sized gasket mate. It worth thinking about maybe? wont make that much difference but might safe gaurd the motor a bit?

I have thought about oversized gasket but as ive already got the standard one just thought id stick with that based on Gunnis advice.
Plan is to get all this done to a good standard and end result on relatively low budget.
If I go for the thicker gasket then ill have to go for arp studs and so on....very soon itll be financially out of control

Just got my timing cover back.
Couple of parts to get during the week then time to put it all back together at weekend.
Hoping to get the engine in the weekend after next.

Picked the last few bits that I need today,M20 temp sensor,88 degree stat and timimng cover gasket.
Hopefully get the head back on and timed up on Saturday with Monkeys help.
Oh and dropped off my M20 flywheel today too to get it lightened

Spent a few hours over at Monkeys garage today.
Cheers Matt,really appreciate the help
Fitted new oil relief valve into the head then it was mated back onto the block.
All torqued down to spec then new vanos seals fitted before getting that back on and set up.
Also got my M20 flywheel back after having it lightened.
Just put it on the scales and weights bang on 7kg,good guess Matt
Just got to give the sump and oil pick up pipe a good clean up and they can go back on.
Then its just a case of fitting the new rear crankseal before bolting the other bits like oil filter housing etc back on.
Hopefully itll be dry tomorrow so should get most of it done then

I've got my old flywheel from my last E30, but it was taken to 6kg. Believe me on a 2.0 it made it go like a 2.5 M20 Still need to get mine fitted thoough

A non lightened M20 wheel does wonders with an M50 so its bound to make a difference.
Just plucking up the courage to go outside and clean the sump out and get it fitted but not looking forward to using the pressure washer in this weather

Its warmer out there today than it was yesterday, but i wouldnt want to be out there with a pressure washer! My mate snowfoamed his car yesterday and it froze

thats still a fair bit lighter than the m50 DMF unit and you wont have to take a grinder to the sump

Going for a Holset HX30 with custom manifold.
Will be on standard management atleast to srat with as im reliably informed it should be fine as ill only be running low boost.

Picked up some more parts for the engine this week.
Pair of M5 rubber mounts,KWP waterpump and new gasket for alloy stat housing.
Hoping to get it all back together this weekend then ill crack on with modding the M50 engine loom and stripping the autobox loom out of it at the same time.
Got my modded M52 manifolds back this week too which I was planning on using untill I was ready to turbo it but these might be being passed onto someone else yet.

Been slow progress as of late due to Xmas and funds etc.
Engine is all built up now and the loom has had the E30 C101 grafted on and the autobox part removed.
Got some new M20 flywheel bolts,just got to pick up some new allenkey clutch bolts and inlet gaskets and its ready for in the car.
Was hoping to order a turbo just before Xmas but again funds have been hammered so will put that off till next month now.
Picked up a set of E90 tophats to sort the stance out a little.
I put the Borbets back on today after running 14" steelies for the last couple of weeks.
I left the Borbets on for the first week of the recent snow and it literally hammered the shiny finish
Anyway borrowed my mates polisher and set to work making them shiny again.Very dirty and time consuming but the rewards are worth it

Borbets wontr be on for long anyway as ive also picked up another 5 stud set up that im going to stick on.

Ive got the Evo wishbones and ti rear end,just the struts really.
I did remember to look for the ICV in the garage but both engines ive got they are missing.Meant to go through my boxes at home but forgot
