head gasket gone in my 318is :( . do you have to replace head bolts with new ones? i wandt rto replace my timing chain but mechanic says its ok thers no signs of wear and plenty of tension cars done 108ooo miles what do you think? ive seen a post on here about chain snapping wat wud cause this?what should i look out for and apart from w pump and thermostat should i replace any thing else.head will be coming off to get tested so thinkin of port an polish can people do that without my engine(send head to them) what money should this cost noting that they dont have to do any stripping an rebuilding. where in ireland could i get this done....................................................................................................................so that enough questions for you :D

You'll need new head bolts but I think the chains on those engines are fine for loads of miles so you wont need to worry about changing that.
If the head is off make sure you put in new valve stem seals and change all the other seals and gaskets for new ones - just to prevent any leaks for the next few years.

But...while the head is off you might as well do the chain and guides etc. Peace of mind and all that!
