emptied the boot of loads of accumulated "that'll come in handy" E30 bits and pieces, stripped the lights, carpets, balance weight and cover, plastic rear panel trim, boot seal and number plate lights:
then treated any rusty spots (two or three tiny areas) and the inner wheel arches and seams with liberal doses of Firtan (see patches of it where it has run right out of the drain holes, behind rear wheels in first pic), before spraying the arches, seams, bolt holes, rear light apertures and also the number plate light areas from inside and outside the boot with Holts rust-proofing underseal:
then the area hidden by the rear bumper:
original rear and replacement number plate lights ready to be cleaned:
refurbed chrome rear bumper, although i did have to replace the rubber strip as this one was scuffed a bit more than i liked, then fit new mounting brackets:
give the inside a good squirt of Holts:
and on the outside, under the rubber:
and all back together she goes:
a good "scratch-remove" , T-Cut, polish and wax later, looking much better than she did on Saturday morning:
then took TPS for a drive to Southsea seafront in the Baur, to buy him an ice-cream (if i hear "are we there yet" one more time..
very pleased with my weekend's work (the garden will just have to wait!
