FRONT FOG LIGHT WORKS WITH A TAP

Have a problem on my car, when i turn the fog lights on only the passenger side lights up but when you tap the drivers side it will light up and stay lit until you switch them off and back on again. Ive checked the connector to the fog itself which seems ok if a little tatty but there must be constant power if it works when tapped. please shed some fog light on this annoying problem

It's a connection somewhere. Get your multimeter out..

More than likely the bulb has failed.
When you tap the light when it's switched on, the two ends of the broken filament probably touch. Current flows, a magnetic field is produced, and the two ends are held together by this until the power is turned off.

brilliant Thanks for that, i recently swapped the light in question and the same problem is happening. im going to take it out and have a good look and clean up of it.

If the same is happening with this light and the previous one it's going to be the connector or cable.

When you say light I take it you mean the unit that the lamp (bulb) goes in.

i meant the fog light glass, i think i have cured it now by fiddling
