I posted up last weekend my pics of my gauge install...Noticed today that the oil pressure light on the dash is non-existant. Doesn't come on with ignition, so can't go out when car started. All the other lights work OK.
The new oil pressure VDO gauge works fine.
I have used the search button, maybe brittle wiring I disturbed for the first time in 20 years? But wouldn't that effectively keep the light on?
I fitted a new BMW pressure switch, T-bar and pressure sender. As I say, the new gauge reads spot on.
Could be a faulty (new) switch?
Forgive me if I am being a dickhead, it's after 1am, and a school night...

If it doesnt, either the wire is broken somewhere along its length or the bulb is faulty. Before you remove the dash cluster, undo C101 and ground pin#5. If the light now comes on, you have a break in the wire from the pressure sender unit. If not, remove the cluster and replace the bulb.

If the light does come on when you ground the wire, the pressure switch is faulty.
Thanks - will give that lot a go. Nice one Willnz.

If the wire is broken its more than likely going to be broken behind the water pump pulley

Cheers guys - all sorted. Followed all the advice, twas a bad connection from the wire to the actual switch on the car. 5 min job!! :D
