Following on from my other thread identifying if the engine I looked at was a 2.8....
What parts do I need or will be usefull from a e39 for a conversion?
Engine + ECU
EWS + Key
Power steering pump
Alternator
Starter?
Exhaust?
The whole car is there to get bits of.
What parts can I use from a E39 328 for a conversion?

All of the above, but only front part of the exhaust. What year is the car? Not sure if anyone has fitted an M52TU (twin vanos) engine to an E30 yet

There's no use for the cat(s) and back box? Unfortunately I'm going to get stung with stricter emission standards than than pre 93 car get hence the why I'm asking.
Pretty sure it's single Vanos, there was 98 stamped on the block, same year as car, but not original engine for the car.

How do your laws work? Do you need to fit the cats? If not get them weighed in!

I'm sure it's quite similar to over in the uk. pre 94 cars have to pass lower emission standards than 94 and later car, ie mine and it was a bit of a chore getting it to pass with the m42 engine (i had to get a lette stating the year of manufacture of the donor car)
So Ideally you want to keep the cats then, so they can be incorperated into the exhaust you fabricate

Thats what I'm thinking, just to play safe!
I'm tempted to go up tomorrow for that engine, the above list is EVERYTHING I need then? He's a long way away from me

Is the brake booster of any use? Calipers maybe?

In the UK a late E30 with an even later engine is NOT tested to the stricter emissions. There's an exemption because the body/engine combination is non standard and doesn't appear in 'the list'.
Are you sure there isn't a similar exemption in Ireland?

The wiring loom is no use, the alternator might be the later type with a plug in connector which is best swapped for an earlier M52 type.
The thermostat housing will need changing, alloy M50 type is best
Apart from that its pretty much just an E36 328i engine

What's the problem with the loom, Dan?
Would also like to know why the loom is no good?
I'm prob going to go for this engine this weekend, just to repeat myself
Engine + ECU
EWS + Key
Power steering pump
Alternator
Starter?
Exhaust (just in case I can use it)
Radiator?
