As alot of you know the valve seat on my recon head buggered up and wrecked the head and piston.
Ive got another head etc but need to either change the piston or get another bottom end.

Which option is the best and least hassle?

Hi Adam, sticky situation this one.

You could change the bottom end, but you'd have to find one locally, as transport could be a prob if you could only find one that was 200 miles away! Where as you could buy a piston from jonb or someone and have it posted for little costs.

As for early or late bottom end in your other thread here's a pic of one of my pistons, which is an early type:

Yeah its hard to know what to do. To do the piston I'd probably be better off taking out the current bottom end anyway wouldnt I so I could get better access?

Ditch your bottom end. You can find bottom ends so easilly, people always want the heads. I've chucked out about 3 bottom ends because I couldn't give them away. Check with JonB for one.

The debris from the mashed piston has probably damaged the bores. Looks like the other cylinders could do with re-hopnong too due to the rust deposits. I definately wouldn't spend the time changing a piston.

Cool, thats what I was thinking but wanted someone to confirm first. Ive contacted Jonb already so just waiting to see what he can find. :)

At least this will give me a spare bottom end to play with. :D
