the car is kangarooing about alot :-x before i start pointing fingers, what simple explaination could it be

i have recently

Changed exhaust pipe

Fitted a new chip

car runs well after warming up but still kangaroos when on very light throttle in all gears.

i have reset the chip twice, and followed the instructions provided carefully. I have not replaced the original chip yet to see as a comparison but i feel that may be a job for tommorow...

any advice lads is greatly appreciated. :)

Hey matey.
In my experience whenever things start monkeying around after I've just done something, it's usually that to blame!!
Like you say, I'd start with the chip and go from there. I can't see much that an exhaust (presumably with better gas flow) would make.

I put a K&N filter on an old (carb) car once which made it behave very strangely in the cold. I was a bit wet(ter) behind the ears then and the hometune guy told me the compressions were suspect, so I went ahead and took the head off and sent it for refurb. When I put it all back together it was all the same......until I put the stock air filter back on. The cold weather was causing the carb to ice up due to the K&N not having a warmed air intake (which I added) I don't use 'professionals' any more either!

Anyway. Did you do your TB yet? could be something to do with that (air preheater?)

Have you been on a long drive since fitting the chip? sometimes needs it to sort it out.

i do a 32 km drive to work and the same home,..

i normally start at 10 so i get the daily traffic.. and i finnish at 10-11 at night, so its clear run and quiet country b roads (120- 130kmh)

ive run almost every rev range and driving style.. but it has been a bit off key from the change :?

You have a touring don't you mate? What engine do you have? My sport does the kangaroo thingie on really light throttle, has been driving me absolutely crazy mad. Have not done any mods yet so that can't be the problem, changed all plugs and sparks but to no avail..... :(

Like I've said a billion times before, I'm no mechanic but I;m guessing you're right artis. If the flywheel was out of balance or something then the car would run lumpy. :)

an out of balance flywheel gives a rough engine not kangarooing

johnono, put the original chip back in. i bought a chip for my m30 and it was similar to what you describe - fine on full power but surged/kangarooed slightly on light steady throttle.

so annoying i put the original chip back in.

rolf!

well i did the swap over.........and then swapped back!!!!

MY GOD THE DIFFERENCE IS UNREAL!!!!!! 8O

when i put the original chip back in, the car started (all done from cold) fisrt time and fell in to standard warm up at 900.. then after 5 mins had droped to 650

took it out, no hiccups (applied throttle over 3000 rpm), no throttle delay, no kangaroo (shuddering at 0-almost zreo throttle, slowing towards lights / junctions)

but....no power :|

Then i put the zone in again..

Fair enuff the car was warmed, but on first turn over, the revs dropped to an allarming -400 then bounced up to 11 to settle again on 700-800

throttle bursts to 2500 (pump to watch for throttle delay) was allarmed to see the revs drop back to -4 but re-settling on 650.

once satisfied the car wasnt going to stall out, i took it out for a drive..

first gear to 3500, second to the same, then HICCUP! :-x :-x

this happened the first day i put it in, and happened again when i reset it with the instuctions i got from Ant.

so i put it down to the ram reading a new map and having a mini freak-out whilst it quickly wrote the new one in.

then into third..long semi-motorway... up to 6800 (didnt have the kohones to take it up to red red) and then gently down..

u turn and up to 6900 and then gently down..

now for a gentle cruise, i take it on the exact same route as i had tested previously with the standard. Toward the first lights KANGAROO!! :-x

so i have confirmed that the kangaroo is down to the chip.. sorry

the hiccup i have only experienced when i disconect the battery, but didnt have it on the standard chip so i think it could b the chip also... argh! :-x

BUT THE POWER IS UNBELEIVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously, i cannot recomend the Zone chip enuff!!!! i know it sounds like im complaining, and about this chip i am in a way, but i have a feeling something may well be incorrect with mine.

Its a crackinԚ´bit oԚ´kit, GET ONE!!

Pm recieved and replied to dude

As per the PM, if you had a cat fitted and removed it but kept the 02 sensor in place you must remove the sensor to prevent the EGO enrich from leaning her off on part throttle and attempting to reset the mixture back to stoich

I can do no more until this issue is resolved Andrew, its very unsual to have a chip go corrupt, assuming yours is duff that would be the second in over 115 supplied thats failed in service

rest assured I offer a full aftersales service and these issues will be resolved ASAP for you dude

Ant, u are a star!!!

ANT IS A STAR!!!!!!!

i have been checking out the possibles, and i dont have a lambda on there anyway :? , but i thought it was the boys at Scmiedman when they changed the pipe over, they diddnt use a downpipe from a post 90 (lambda fitted) but mines a pre lambda / post facelift, so i can have the samepipe and downpipes as a pre facelift

Anyway, i wanted to gather all the info before i started swpping bits about again

Thanks for being so safe!!

Have you tried adjusting the TPS so that it clicks as soon as you even touch the throttle?
I had the same problem on mine when I installed a Viper2 chip, adjusting the TPS cured it completely. It seems that with the chip the car is much more sensitive at lower throttle openings.

AWWW man! thats sh!t

sounds like she's a zoomer with the chip though-u sure its a mild ant?

as for the kangarooing-TPS adjustment could be a plan, as suggested by Jackle.

I'm Sure ant will see you right anyways!good luck!

Injectors again i suspect

If their partially clogged the fuel is injected in a jet and not atomising correctly so will not burn efficiently in the slower air flow and cause rough idle and poor starting problems. The kangeroo effect is a result of the play in the drive train gears and shafts thats not noticable when the engine idle is too fast.
There is NO nucleus.
