The thing attached to number one plug lead can be cut off and thrown away. It's only required for dealer diagnostics.
what ever you do , don't ! i said don't cut that wire !! it would just equal throuwing the loom away after having bought it new.
so , this wire , is not just diag, it controls your ignition on the motronic version....cut it the car wount run ! ; if it does you might result in pinging, to much advance ... and it all run all injectors at the same time ...making extra consumption....
the first pics is for the version with the ignition on the camshaft...i mean the motronic then...
the second is for the ljetronic type 1 with the distirbutor cap aside the bloc and mounted on the oil pump axle...
