Didn't know there was a difference in the number of horns between a 4 pot and 6 pot.

I'm guessing the 6 pots had dual horns???

If you're fitting the whole touring rear end on a featherweight 2 door chromie, you way with to think about brake bias. the touring rear calipers are a 35mm bore, the saloon ones are 33mm.
Not a big difference but if it's light at the rear, it could be a little lively under braking.

I never had a problem with this on the red S50 E30 when i reshell it from a touring to a 2dr. I used the touring rear calipers on the 2dr.

What's the score with the earth strap on the driver side engine mount? On the touring there was a little thread sticking out the o/s chassis front leg for it to connect to, but none on the chromie. Do I need to look at getting a thread tacked onto the chassis leg or should I look at getting a longer earth strap and bolting it to the subframe or somewhere near?

Dan, have you a copy of the fitting guide for the leccy fan loom as I can't remember which wires went to which pin numbers in the fuse box. Cheers bruv

Your looms wont be the same as I use different coloured wires depending on what ive got lying around, did I email it you Lee? Might be there still

I ran an earth strap under the chassis rail and bolted it to the underside, there are a few 8mm threaded holes towards the front

you should be able to find something on the N/S of the engine to connect the earth up to, possibly where the power steering bottle bolts to the engine mount. I noticed this on my M3 but im going to swap the earth mount points over on my chassis legs before i paint the bay out.

M10 earthed on opposite side from the sump as it sticks over there miles Dezzy.

Dan, the original instructions you sent with the loom printed out, lost somewhere in the garage, I think they got wet and the ink ran.

If you look at the chassis rail in the pic, there is a lug sticking out with a captivated nut on it, thats what I've used and it seems to work alright.

Can't you just earth it on the oppersite side?

Yep, thats why i said what i said as i sold Lee some wilwoods, the same as the ones i used.

Yep, thats why i said what i said as i sold Lee some wilwoods, the same as the ones i used.

Be a good to run an earth lead from your o/s engine mount direct to the battery earth pole.That's what finally sorted my sensor issues out.

From your pics , the sump seems to sit higher than mine (good thing) what mounts are you using?

E28 M5 OEM mounts on the E36 arms.

I have the round mount on the passenger side and the square/ trapezius shape mount on the driver side. I was very impressed with where the sump sits, although I don't think it is any lower than on the touring where the sump still sat the correct side of the plastic under tray.

There must be some differences between S50 and M50 then or possibly pre and post facelfit??

The sump on mine sits well low, maybe an inch or more below the plastic under tray. I have to be very careful around the lanes

My sump sits approximately 50mm of the road currently with a 50mm drop, it's very worrying.

I didn't do my conversion so need to find out what mounts were used, are there any other options that could have been used?

My plan is to get the sump level with the cross member and then fab a sump guard.

Its possible you have E34 M50 type mounts, they are too soft for my liking

Im using the E28 M5 mounts as above. Mine sits around 50mm off the road, with I believe a 50mm front drop.

Had so hoped to get more done today but mates visiting and then getting roped into shopping trips and other crap meant sod all progress.

Had drama last night with the subframe retaining plates being a cooont to get off, had to give the 4 allen bolts the good news with the angle grinder, so that took up most of yesterday evening.

Today I got the rear end down in about 30 mins, but then the visitors arrived and her indoors wanted me to go shopping, so had to take one for the team.



Tomorrow the plan is to get the fuel tank out, replace fuel pipes, all rear brake pipes, get the replacement 63ltr tank fitted and get the rear end back on it with the koni dampers and new AVO springs.

I need to get another 325 propshaft. I can't get mine to separate and have been knocking hell out of it and still can't get it to separate. Is it just the front part that is a different length on propsahfts? i.e will the rear part of the chromie (316) prop mate upto the front part of a 325 prop?

As you can see, mine took a bit of abuse in the crash, that is how the centre bearing carrier came off the car, no vandalism required

If that's the case with the props I have a front half of a 325 prop I don't need. It's yours for a few bear tokens.

Have you slackened the collar nut on the prop? Take it all the way back and WD40 down the spline

What's the crack with the wiring you did under the rear seat? Am I plug & play for the sender & the fuel pump or do I need to be sourcing any more wiring?
