Yeah, something ain't right, this should be taking me months :)

I even thought about dropping the M52 in tonight, but I want to get rid of the keep fit rack and do any other jobs that would be easier with an empty bay first. The Bilt Hamber goodies will be coming out to treat the spots of rust that can be seen here & there.

It's the little things that excite me these days, like a fusebox lid with the clip still intact :)

I keep thinking about that, but I also have a plan.

I have the M3 wiring cover to go in the corner there, but I also have access to a free one of these I'll be collecting at the weekend. I figured it would fit in the original place even with the M3 cover there. Will cover the rust :)

I don't think the cover will cover that..

No, I mean fit the cover, then sit the battery in front of it as it is only half the depth of a normal battery.

Gotta be worth 10 decibels at the spare wheel :P

It's not too bad really Paul, well not for a £100 car.

I'll treat the rust spots rather than ignore them though. Should help prolong the life of the old girl a bit more.

Wire brush in the drill and hammerite will be best I reckon, not too far off diamond black either, just hammered :)

If you use a big ass battery in the boot it will give you extra traction winkeye

Just spoken with my insurance brokers to put the chromie on cover as the touring was still on cover.

No charge for change of vehicle with identical spec.

I asked about the score with Nruburgring cover and my policy does provide ring cover if you call up and they refer you to underwriters. Just incase anyone was interested in this particular feature.

What is to become of the fabled M10 ? I trust that you will be leaving it outside to fully temper the block, and regularly peeing on it to bring it up to F1 spec winkeye

Had an enquiry from a zoner about it already, just waiting to hear back from him. If he doesn't take it I'll put it up for sale as a job lot and if no interest will just stick stuff like the webber on ebay to get rid.

Without overstatement, the M10 in this turd was a really quiet runner and started on the button, sounded really quite nice

I was the first the drive this car after it's 2 year lay up and I can second that. Anyone look for a replacement m10 couldn't do better. Even the stale fuel has be burned off now. :D

Frickin' hell Lee, this is some saga.

I missed the death of the Touring and started reading this to find out how you'd ended up in CR24v. Taken me a week of on/off reading!! 8O

+2. Started after a couple of revolutions and ran smoothly and quietly for one of these engines.

It'll crank over on the starter several times in one second. Which brand of stopwatch did you use to time it?

Done nothing to this since pulling the M10 donk out (need to get a for sale ad sorted for that). Buggered my back up earlier in the week. Today is the first day where I've not been walking around like Manuel from Fawlty Towers.

Hope to get a few solid hours graft done tomorrow. Was going to go to the drag strip but it's going to be windy & cold so sod it, i'll try and move this forwards.

Need to buy some springs. I've found a set of 55mm drop front & rear. Do yo reckon I'm asking for sump glory? The alternative is 40mm drop but I just don't think it will be enough.

Had my Moordoor down on it's wheels today to push it into the garage (motor out). It's 60/40 and it sat really nice. Sump was quite close to the floor but not dangerous IMO. Speed bumps would be slow and steady but other than that you will be golden.

M52 in tomorrow? 8O

Yeah I may get it dropped in mate, just need to have a look at the brake pipes and see if they need replacing. Will bolt the E36 rack upto the subframe I took from the touring and swap that in.

May get the fuel tank down too, that looks unbelievably mint, get the new fuel lines put in place ready for the replacement tank. Damn courier was supposed to pick that up from Pacer on Friday but was a no-show, bell ends!

Sod it, debit card is out and some 55mm sizzle is getting ordered. Very reasonable at £103 + delivery.

40mm for safety then?

I am gagging to get the B30 in the chromie now. It will be a bigger urge if you get your 24v lump in yours tomorrow.

pre-face will need at least 55mm to get it somewhere near level, IIRC the back needs to come down a fair way?
pete used 60mm on the back and it looks sweet !

I'm a bell end, the link I posted was for the 40-mm ones I was considering. The -55mm ones are AVO. I consider them a decent brand of spring. I would buy eibach or H&R if they did the drop I want.

Like Steve says, chromies need to come down a fair bit to look good.

The dampers I have should have no trouble with that drop, so hopefully I'll still have a decent enough ride.

If you go too low, at least you can shim it back up with thicker spring pads if need be. When your springs are too high its a coont

No pics of the AVO shizzle as I haven't bought it yet, waiting on an email back from them, so hopefully I'll get that purchased this week.

Got a bit done today, but not much in the grand scheme of things.

Took off the complete running gear, noticed the subframe looked in better order than my other one, so I pulled all the gubbins off that. I also replaced all the front brake pipes and fitted up the clio servo and E30 master cylinder - badgered Dan a few times on the phone due to the funky master cylinder on the chromie, which has a load of crap underneath it (now in the bin) :)

Then I had an argument getting the E36 rack fitted. The steering UJ setup is too long for the rack to fit in the holes at the rear of the tabs, so it got fitted to the front holes and had about 5mm spaced underneath it and about 4mm on top.

Had a quick play about with the wheelsto see how they will look

She's ready for the lump to go in now though. Can't really fit any more front suspension as I need my springs and also need to get some M3 eccentric bushes pressed into a spare set of lolipops.
