BMW E30 324d washer bottle fit's in the battery tray and when I got mine was around £10 posted from cotswolds... The photo below makes it look a bit wierd but it bolts in well and has two pumps so you can still have intensive wash

Good to see another M30 being born :D

Another wee bit done on the m30 today.
The lpg inlet manifold was removed and will be replaced with a standard one as i wont be using the lpg now.
I gave the new inlet and rocker cover a coat of paint while they were off.
Hopefully get it back together tomorrow then its just the engine loom, rocker gasket, sump gasket, waterpump and thermostat to do.

I'm on the look out for a output flange from an m20 gearbox if anybody has one.

Gareth everything is there but as said before the loom has been chopped here and there as it was wired through everything it could have been in the donor.
It will also have the m30 inlet c/w the engine loom.

I was going to get some pics of it today and drop you a pm as i remembered you saying you might be interested in it.

those pipes do like to go hard and crack. is yours a cut length of pipe or a moulded part? it should be a moulded bit in a similar material to the inlet boots etc.

mine needed new ones too. they're a lot nicer to use when they're soft and rubbery. mine turned into brittle plastic!

I cut the wires a couple of inches down from the plug and re-soldered them.
The rubber boot covers the join up too. :)

You need the tool to pull out the pins, better off doing it the way as above, cut, solder and heatshrink.

Right made a wee bit of progress today.
325 Engines is out and leccy fan in.
Hit a few snags .I need to get a deep 30mm socket to remove the gearbox flange and the air con fan off the donor was goosed so had to dip into my mate stash again.

Hopefully get a socket for the flange tomorrow(Lee what did you use?).Still have to bore and re tap one manifold stud and cut in the tee on the hose before i can attempt to get the engine in but hopefully get it in by Tuesday.

I got mine from halfrauds, about £6 i think

Good luck with holding the flange still while you undo the nut :D my M20 one came off without a struggle but the M30 one i had to bolt a bar to the flange then get my fat neighbour to hold the gearbox down while i undone the nut

Remember theres a securing plate around the nut too

Progress at last :D

Needing a few questions answered .(lee / Rav)

1..Do i need the knuckle off the m20 gearbox and if i do have do i remove it.

2.. Is it the flange i heat Rav to turn the flange 90 degrees as it looks welded.

3..How much atf does the gearbox take.

4 Is it ok to use the m20 clutch slave

they're the same AFAIK, though there are two different widths i've seen so it'll have to match your linkage. if you need to remove it, slide the clip back up the knuckle and push the pin out. it'll then slide off the shaft

1, i swaped the knuckles over but not sure if its nessasary

2, i didnt touch my flange but you can rotate them to give more clearance, if your messing with the manifold id cut & shut it to get it closer to the block to get it E36 rack ready

3, dont know

4, M20 clutch slave works fine although i remember someone sticking with the M30 one to make the clutch pedal softer :gay:

Good to see some progress :D

If your talking about the flange on the exhaust manifold it is welded and the only way to rotate it is to cut and re-weld and as Lee has stated get it as closs to the block as poss so you can do a rack upgrade later. If your happy with the E30 steering you don't actually need to touch the manifold, just grind a corner off the flange and it all fits fit.

M30B35 getrag 260 takes 1.25lt of ATF oil

Did your doner have aircon? if it did do you still have the compressor mounting brackets? I'm going to be swapping my M30 across into my tourer which has aircon and I'd like to retain the use of it but don't have the bracket.
