Just 8 more! Do we need the full 20 people or will they take close to that number?

You should have no problems with clearance on any components and it's purely the inside that's different.
No they will cut a new rack and send it to you for you to fit.
£100 is a very vague guide figure it could be more. All the same the cost of this and the donor rack will be less than fitting a Z3 one.jonnygould wrote:I will DEFINITLY have a quick rack at that price
As Ross said, they only have the facilities to build manual racks.vladv wrote:rix313, did you consider rebuilding of the powerstering racks? Why just manual?
And one more: sorry for my stupid question but if quife cut the teeth of the rack to make it quicker so I need to supply to them my donor rack to cut it, isn't it?

if you can get a 2.1 made count me in!
Haven't got a rack to use or even started building the car I'd use it on but I'll cross that bridge when I need to so count me in.
Reckon I'd keep the clubsport rack and the quicker PAS steering in the road and drift cars though as a manual might prove alittle tough in those circumstances...

M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream
So you don't actually need a rack for this right. Just need to pay for the new rack and pinion and then fit it when rebuilding your own manual steering rack when you track one down and get round to putting it together

dealers.
it will literally be a steel bar with some teeth carved into it and a pinion gear.
go look on say rally designs at the rack and pinion quaife kits to get an idea of what it is.
either way, the other bits aren't going to cost the earth

i would imagine so based on what i know about other quick racks.
which makes it better in that respect to a z3 rack (for the drift boys especially) because the z3 lack limits the total amount of movement

It being a manual rack isn't great for drifting though...
I'll probably still go with 1.7 or 2 turns with PAS on my drift car but the Quaife rack would be sweet for a track and/or race car

Rack is boxed up and booked to be picked up by DHL tomorrow. Hopefuly might have a price and some solid info by the end of the week but we shall see.
If/when this goes ahead, I'll send the list to them and make it so you ring them directly, quote your number and user name and pay for it that way.

must admit I didn't find E30 stock 4.4 turns manual steering too heavy at all! I guess there will be more effort required to spin the wheel on a 2.5 rack though - still I'd imagine drifting would just be good exercise for your arms

The way they treat it is as one order, by one person and one payment

I'm up for it as long as it all goes ahead.ross_jsy wrote:sounds good if you are up to it?
Thats what I'm a little worried about but we shall cross that bridge when we come to it.ross_jsy wrote:do they need 20 guaranteed payments, as we all know a lot of people will not pay up when it comes down to it

Guys, just bear in mind that with a manual quick rack and sticky tyres the car will become completely unusable for day to day driving. I have a modified 2.2 turns quaife escort rack fitted to my car and parking/slow turns are unbelievably difficult. Dont want to piss in anyones chips, just talking from experience. If your serious about this then look into a corsa EPAS conversion at the same time to compliment it.

I havent been up the hill with this rack yet, but it wont be very fun as it is, will play around with the corsa column over the summer.
