at last! good job I'm here isn't it!
Looks good mate, running it in? Dan's 3ltr was run in nicely... nipped down the disused airfield by me and follwing dans advice wound it up in 4th then shut the throttle.. I got bored after the 4th run so decided I should make it more exciting and do it in 5th..

I can't mate really excited. I want to be where you are now.
Just been thinking I'm not that close really. Exhaust to finish, Z3 rack, rear discs, 5 stud conversion, rad and fan, prop etc etc.
One step at a time eh?

I allowed myself to do a little tarting today
I started off with a very oil ridden M50 box

Some agressive cleaner doing it's thing

After a little wash off

Oh and some engine mount brackets got a bit off the tarty goodness

They are a bit glossy but they will do.
The gearbox seamed to be leaking from the selector shaft? Is this common (easy to repace seal)
It just wouldn't do if it leaked once in!
That's all for today customers get right on my nerves

iirc, there's a spring steel sleeve that sits round the 'knuckle'. pull this off and underneath there's a steel pin which just needs pushing through. the knuckle then comes off
not sure on how to do the rest of the job though - i never bothered on mine so i have a shitty oily transmission tunnel
oh well, that's one area that won't rust!

Yep.. Only the fuel tank left to remove, and loom to pull through the bulkhead. Then it's out of my hands for a month or so.
Happily discovered it has a mint bulkhead after pulling the dash out

Where is the filter? It looks cool. Good idea but needs to be fitered?
I don't want my very expensive engine that I have built to my own spec. It has custom parts rebore bigger pistons etc I want it to be protected.
It's a one off.

I think it has a long oval filter behind the grill if i remember rightly. I saw something very similar to this In Gaydon at the Bmw show last year... looked impressive...
U could always customise a large filter yourself to offer all the protection u need
What throttle body were u planning on using?

I have made a lifestyle choice. Gareth is fitting all new bearings, seals and bolts then welding the fook out of it.DanThe wrote:I thought they only worked on welded diffs?
I am re blacking the bonnet and re cutting the springs. Then all I will need is some tacky stickers and I will look way cooler than your grandad chariot.
