Have a M10 carb engine, and recently it has started to miss!
real bad, sounds like its running on 3 cylinders!
and then would clear itself, and then come back and stay!
feels like its holding back!

I work at Sytner BMW, the techs there are saying it could be the dizzy timing?
Im thinking it maybe a dodgy lead or something like that?
any ideas?
Yesterday i cleaned up the dizzy cap, and rotor!
The 3 leads i checked were fine, but there was 1 that has a blue coloured powder on it, and the were it goes on the dizzy cap were real dirty, where the others were clean!

Am really confused!
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on it!

worth investing in some leads,or maybe borrow one from a different car to see if it cures the problem.

maybe just a universal set, and if its that then get a original set from work!

mate if you can get to Muswell hill one night you can borrow mine to see if it is them. Let me know.

If you fancy splashing out there is a M10 ignition set that cost around Ԛ£100 from the states which is supposed to have pretty dramatic improvements in perfemance and fue.l

Could be the dizzy balance plate wearing out....

They do, causing the timing to wander all over the place as the plate holes where the screws and lugs go through wear into elongated holes...

I'm don't live in muswell hill, its just my car park

P.m me when, if you want to meet and i'll tell u where! I can get up there by 6.00pm or anytime at the weekend.

My car has a flat battery so it wont be going far...

but.my ignition leads/dizzycap are in pretty good nick so you will be able to tell if its them.

Si316 and myself believe that a bit of "italian tuning" (revving the nuts of it at high speed) is the best way to cure most m10 problems....

My 316carb fixed almost all problems with alot of revving,
except when it ran out of fuel, :P
With great challenges comes great engineering.
