looks like my touring will be having a 24v engine fitted to it some time in the near future as i won this little lot on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

all have to get now is the wiring loom sorted so it will work in an e30 and some other odds and sods.
im planning on having all the parts i need before i start taking the car apart

Is there a lot of extra parts you need? Have just bought an e34 with a m50 single vanos lump with the plan of using it untill the mot fails then transplanting it into my cab. I know about the manifold and sump, are there any other major parts i should be hunting for?

Bargain fella, handy you've not got Dan far away help you out as well.

Sump shouldn't be an issue if it's from an E34 from what i've seen.

Good man.. 24V is the way forward!

You'll need the bits to make the electric fan and the smaller servo from a golf/polo/clio aswell as a few other bits too remember.

There's LOADS of info in the engine swap section.

Dan and I swapped to an M50 in a couple of days (mostly cleaning, and tidying the engine and car in that time also), though we already had the servo and the manifold & exhaust sorted.

Bargain indeed! Maroon ECU label on that one, so no EWS stuff to complicate things.
Inlet manifold alone is worth half of what you paid!

Do remember to check/replace the waterpump before fitting!

The main thing is the wiring loom and deciding what brake servo you want to use and the exhaust manifold can be a pain in the arse

I am sure you will easy really. I am no mechanic as dan can testify but it's all straight farward.
Clio servo, E36 M42 rad and any aircon fan (a good size one).
Loom is quite straight fatwad but just ask dan for piece of mind and get him to nock you up a fan loom too!

Goog luck and gods spead :o:

My M50 ran perfectly in it's donor E34 for a month, the wife loved swanning around the city in those big front armchairs!
Engine came out of the donor end of September and did'nt run again until Dan came over to help me first week of the New Year('09)Car was fully roadworthy and MoT'ed by the end of Feb '09 and the waterpump threw it's toys out mid March....the impeller parted company with the shaft, water did'nt circulate and the top hose blew off.Fortnight before this the thermostat was found to be rusted solid 'open'...
So my advice to all M50 users is to replace 'stat and waterpump whilst the thing is still out of the car, much easier to see what you are doing.
Mine dyno'd mid-summer at 184bhp,BTW.
